A sincere request to non-sports fans in the Lounge

It is baseball playoffs time, and for fans of Houston, St. Louis, Boston and New York, it is a very fun time. We are posting about it.

In the last 24 hours, posters who do not like baseball or sports have posted in the baseball threads, comparing professional sports games to Hitler Youth rallies, claiming anyone who likes baseball is a corporate stooge, and generally going out of their way to rain on the parade.

I think it is an internet phenomenon. The people doing this are good people, I'm sure. In the real world, if these people saw a group of folks having fun and enjoying themselves, they wouldn't go out of their way to try and spoil that fun.

Can you pleaqse try to avoid spoiling the good time being had by myself and others? If you *really* can't help yourself, hit the nifty little 'x' next to the threads about baseball. It looks like this:

I am here to have fun, not squash the fun of others. I like baseball, I feel there are a lot of threads about it, don't care to go there, and I have more than exercised the hidden box.

I highly recommend it. Don't piss all over someone else's party.

Honestly, those complaining about the baseball thread should lighten up. For months I've seen people on edge, anxious, terrified, mad with hope and utterly hopeless over the upcoming election. For just one night let people be ecstatic, euphoric, and let them boast and gloat and revel. If we can't have a little fun from time to time, then what the hell life are we fighting to preserve in this life or death election? And let's not forget the city of Boston itself. Right now in that town there are no Bush supporters and Kerry supporters, no Repubs and Dems. Tonight there are just Redsox fans...lots and lots of Red sox fans. So I think tolerating a few million baseball threads (rather than a few million cat threads) isn't too much to ask.
