An oldie but goodie along the lines of Live Albums. Mostly dark Velvet Underground stuff with more electric work.
Lou might be off his rocker now but back then he ROCKED!

Apparently, Sylvia got him into AA. And he still works the program. I imagine the only problem was getting Lou to accept that the "higher power" WASN'T Clive Davis
Actually, I have an entire imitation routine basrd on Lou attending an AA meeting. Yes, I DO need to get a life :)

5. I love that shit. Along with its companion "Lou Reed Live" it is heresy

to many hardcore Velvets fans (one of whom I am), but the Wagner/Hunter (Alice Cooper) guitars put a new veneer of coldness and meanness on it all.

Great headache music, along the lines of the original cut of "The Who: Live at Leeds."

6. So there I was...

Out on the road, working for Rick Derringer. Roadie. We were opening for Alice Cooper. I found myself in a hotel elevator with an Indian guy. Got to talking, introduced myself. He said he was Prakash John. Me? I went "HOLY SHIT! PRAKASH JOHN??!! ROCK AND ROLL ANIMAL PRAKASH JOHN??!! MY FAVORITE ALBUM IN THE WORLD PRAKASH JOHN??!!". He went "Yeah. You know the album?".

Clunk went me.

He told me that The Whole Rock and Roll Animal Band(including Hunter and Wagner) were Alice's band.

I gushed. I wobbled. I stammered. I weebled. I wet my pants. I beshat my pants. Somewhere in there, I offered him the princely sum of $100(a weeks pay back then...) to play the overture to "Sweet Jane" at soundcheck. He demurred at the time. Don't blame him. I was demented at the time.

The next day, I am down on the floor, presetting the gear for the show. The band(minus Alice) arrives for the soundcheck and takes the stage. They run through a few Alice tunes and then I hear "Hey! Tandalayo! You don't owe us! Here you go!".

The. Whole. Damn. Song.

More beshatting ensued. In profusion.

One of my bestest memories ever.

7. What a cool story!

You roadied during the golden age of concert rock. That is also very fucking cool!
The best I can do was when I was at The Paradise, in Boston, it was crowded so I had to share a table with a stranger. It turned out that stranger was Don Roeser (Buck Dharma) from Blue Oyster Cult.
He was a very quiet but cool guy.

8. I used to work for BOC.

Guitar roadie for Donald, albeit after the blush had left the rose, career-wise. Donald is just one of the sweetest guys ever in the music business. Period. I have had several LONG car rides with him and Eric. Smart, savvy, clued-in and very funny chaps. I miss their presence in my life. I sincerely hope all is well with them.

9. They put on a great show 73-79. Saw them many, many times.

I loved it when all 6 or 7 of them donned guitars for their finale.
I beleive that they played either "Cities on Flame", or "Astronomy".

Seems to be the only airplay they gave him in the Chicago Area. He was (is) better than that one song...
