hands down more presige. Especially outside of the US.

Edit: make it a Nobel Peace Prize, too. MAN, would THAT ever be the shit.

3. Nobel Prize in Chemistry (or Physics).
Edited on Fri Oct-08-04 12:53 AM by theorist
Preferably the chemistry prize. It'll be difficult for a theorist to get it in the next couple decades, so it might happen.

4. Nobel Prize. 100% no doubt.
I even know what I'd like to do to earn it. (Not that I've lifted a finger to actually do anything like it.)

6. Nobel
No need for painful high heels and a sprayed on tan. No idiotic interviews on the red carpet entering the venue.

Will miss Billy Crystal or Steve Martin though.

11. That's a rough one, too.
Andrew Wiles didn't even get it for proving Fermat's Last Theorem. He got some kind of consolation prize, I believe. The Field's is a rough one, usually only given for work done in a mathematician's early career (under 30 years old).

John Nash was quite obsessed about getting one; I don't blame him. Isn't it only given out every other year, too, and sometimes not at all?

17. Every four years, I believe
And Wiles didn't get one because they're generally given out for a body of work, not a particular result. Controversial, that.

10. Nobel prize because that would mean that I had a brain in my head
An Oscar would just mean that I was a good actor which in turn would mean that I would be really good at bullshitting people.

14. nobel - top 10 reasons
1. you get paid a million dollars
2. your speech can be longer than a minute
3. you actually make an impact on humanity
4. you necessarily had to do something important (unlike oscars where lighting guys win oscars)
5. nobel is more prestigeous
6. people actually care what you have to say
7. it's not rigged / political
8. you aren't competing with anyone
9. if your achievement isnt recognized one year, it can be recognized the next
10. you aren't criticized by a disgusting old hag about what you're wearing
