Where Should I Move?
Left and Straight Millwright looking for a friendly city/employer that can accommodate the fat, hairy cat loved by me and my "deceased" mother.

I'm just searching for a home....

2. Louisville, KY
"Bible Belt" here, I can do anything construction-wise with tools and including running a crew and am willing to squander my Mom's legacy escaping far, far from these Rushbo idiots.

Any suggestions?

3. how about....
....somewhere in the Pacific Northwest? The temperature is moderate. Cost of living isn't too bad out of the cities. And people are generally tolerant and agreeable, and there's plenty of lefties to be found.

4. True about the climate hereabouts, -but
be forewarned that the farther one gets 'out of the big cities' the more conservative and Freeperesque the people become. If you come up to Oregon or Washington, stay to the west of the Cascades.

7. Been There Once
Couldn't find anything to live in other than a tent when we were building a "plant" on the Western Cascades.

It wasn't a problem; I taught 'Eagle' Scouts the fine arts in camping as a Boy-Scout Tenderfoot. They grew up in the "city," I didn't.

5. What About Mechanical/ Elecrical Work?
I've been offered a job with Disney at Orlando.

Somehow, I feel a job in manufacturing is far more valabule than making a kid feel "safely" sick at his stomach.

Hey, I have stanards too!

9. San Francisco Bay Area
Very, very few rushbots out here. It's really reassuring to go to an antiwar demo and have hundreds of thousands of people show up.

San Francisco is expensive, apartment rents down a bit, but sale prices still high.
The nearby suburbs are mostly just as high.
If you're looking to buy, you might consider a fixer-upper, given your skills.

Some of the rural areas are full of old hippies :smoke:.

If you want liberal, rural, and cheap, check out Mendocino county :smoke::smoke::smoke:

11. Beaucoupe construction work down here
in coastal Alabama.
It's a repub county, but we have an active and interesting Democrat organization. I like the laid back Jimmy Buffet type lifestyle.

Business appears to still be booming. Everything from single family homes to high rise condos and commercial building going up. Had to wait several months for a contractor to do some remodeling here.

14. www.findyourspot.com
I took the quiz on findyourspot.com and it tells me that I should live in Albuquerque. This was a surprise to me since I live near Chicago.

But perhaps, you'll have better luck.
