This cock really likes me........

Yes, more bird stories. :) For the bird lovers.... ;)

Here goes:

Visited the 'tiel again. The little sweetie was in a bin with a few other sleeping birds, but I found him. ;) I recognize his not very developed crest and sweet little face. ;) He hopped up onto my finger and then onto my arm. He fell asleep on my arm. Pet store person said it was the first time she ever saw that happen. hmm. Just tucked in his little head and started to snooze. Of course he opened an eye now and then. ;)hehehe...

Got to talking with a bird breeder who brought her tiel into the shop. Asked her alot of questions. Birdie started wagging his tongue at me, and the bird breeder said that was a sign the bird was very content. :loveya: :loveya: We talked about diet and the little gaffer would chirp every time I said "want some steak?" ;) Noticed he has quite the appetite already. :nuke:
Spent quite awhile visiting the bird and talking with the bird expert. He just LOVES it too when I stroked the back of his head. :loveya:

Oh, I'm just getting so hung up on this little bird. Still thinking things over.......a definite maybe here.... :)

9. I would love to see photos of BOTH your bunnies...
Pet photos are one of my favorite things about DU. I have posted my dogs and cat, but I have yet to see a bunny. They are adorable!

10. I don't know how to post my bunny photos....
I don't have any photos of Baylee yet (I know I know, I keep putting it off! ) but I do have photos of my late bunny Bagel. :)

It's not from lack of love that I don't post actual photos of my own pets ;) I just don't know how. :(

11. To be honest, I don't know how, either. I have a friend with a scanner
and a digital camera who ``put them up'' for me so I can post them or send them in e-mail. I need to learn how to do it myself.

The first time I posted my dogs on DU, I e-mailed my photos to someone here and she posted them for me! People on DU are the best!
:loveya:

My friend sent me this link, which he says explains how, but I haven't yet gotten around to checking it out...

13. I would love to post photos of Bagel...
my "girl" bunny who died of cancer a few years ago. :(

She was very beautiful and quite the catch for any eligible buck. ;)

5. Do it, Darth...
I had the same kind of reaction from a cockatiel I met in a store. I bought him that day. He was a real sweetheart. I potty-trained him in one afternoon. In about an hour, in fact. They're really smart and sweet.

But be forewarned - they need a LOT of attention. They really like human contact.

Funny story - I bought him a tape of recorded whistles to learn. He learned "shave and a haircut, two-bits" but ALWAYS left off the last note. He slept in my room and used to start singing it at 6:00am, always leaving off the last note. It used to drive me NUTS!

Plus, they don't do well in earthquakes ;)

7. They often have birds on ``The Pet Psychic''
and there is a vet at the practice where I take my dogs and cat who specializes in birds. She gets a lot of business and I have seen some really amazing birds there. People get as attached to them as they do a cat or dog.

Since you have no kitty to stalk him and you don't have room for a horse, this may be an ideal pet for you. Heep us posted, LOL!:hi:

14. It sounds like the little bird is smitten too!

I've found that birds choose their people as much as people choose their birds. I think you'd probably be a good bird person, you're doing all the research ahead of time to be sure you can be a proper bird parent. Cockatiels are absolutely adorable. One caution about them would be if you have allergies: cockatiels (and cockatoos) have feather dander, which could bother someone with allergies.

15. Hi!!
I just cannot get over this little bird. Seems SO affectionate, and since I'm a really IMPULSIVE person, want to be sure I've thought through everything.
I'll admit, it's probably not the most practical thing I should be doing (I should be paying down my credit cards, but this really won't affect it much anyways) and I've got other things to buy, but again, I could put that off a little bit (no hurry in my life, and I've got a secure job)

Got some birdie books from the library and am reading through them. I'm getting more comfortable with the notion that I could be a good bird owner. :) Again, if it's meant to be.... ;)

16. If this little guy makes you happy, that's all that counts
I am currently unemployed, yet the animals I have adopted are older animals that have needed major veterinary care. I still do it because they need me, I love them and helping them makes me happy. Follow your heart...
