Does it bother you when I call you hon?
God help me, I've been wanting to call everyone hon lately! What the hell is up with that? Total strangers, my co-workers, fellow DUers. You name it, I'm struggling to NOT call everyone hon. What is the name of this condition, and how did I catch it? :silly:

12. Yeah, so unless you want to be held out a window by your ankles,
you'd better spell it "suge."

18. actually, we used to know a farrier name "Shug"
who spelled it "shug" and pronounced it "shoog" with the "oo" sound as in "good," not as in "boot."

So the name has multiple valid spellings. Just don't call the large, easily-angered black man pictured above "Suge" as in "Stooge."

6. Sug is good, but I think it's a little more personal than hon.
However, in your case I can make the exception, because I feel like I've gotten to know you well enough for sug. But if I EVER start to call you darlin', you have my permission to slug me. I can't stand darlin'!

and it's much better than many of the alternatives! I think it's sweet.

15. For me, it's sweetie
When it's DU, it's usually when I'm consoling someone. I know it's kind of familiar, but I think it's from living in the South for 6 years.

Anyway, I don't mind when someone calls me that.

21. Yes, I do. I also hate when people call me "luv" or "sweetie"
Edited on Sat Sep-25-04 10:07 PM by Rabrrrrrr
I am not your honey. I am the honey of one person, and she is not you; of that, I am most certain.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems so awfully familiar to call someone hon or luv or other words of a similar vein.

Also, please don't kiss or peck my cheek, nor expect me to do the same to you. You may either bow politely or shake my hand. If you shake my hand, that is all you may touch - you do not need to put your other hand on my arm or shoulder. If you are a really, really good friend, you may hug. But unless you are my honey, there is no lip action nor any bodily contact beyond shaking one (1) of my hands.

*note on "sweetie" - if I've done something nice for you, you may call me sweetie, and you only get to use it once, generally in the phrase "You are such a sweetie for doing that" or "What a sweetie you are". But as a general term, no, you may not use the word.

I don't know, maybe I'm just too midwestern german lutheran.
