6. What makes you think only the mega wealthy would survive?

Although many of them hold substantial amounts of land and such, most of their wealth is in the form of money or worse, stock. That form of wealth won't mean anything if the economy collapses. If they do not have survivalists skills or people who really like them regardless of their wealth who do, they will not survive. Those most likely to survive will be those with substainable farms that they can physically defend, organized criminal gains who can take things by force, and people with wilderness survival skills. I don't think that billionaires will have advantages over the rest of us.
