1. Chasing Amy or the works of Cat Stevens?
Just keeping you up with the days memes.

2. Cat Stevens, In a Dick Cheney heartbeat.
Steven Georgiou was a wonderful melodicist and possessed a nearly miraculous white-soul voice. Sure, his lyrics were mush, but his other sttributes made up for it. Plus, he DID THE SOUNDTRACK TO "HAROLD AND MAUDE." If that doesn't count for something, then you're simply a reactionary thinker, parroting the hipster party line because the rock-critic establishment has brainwashed you.

Kevin Smith, however, directed precisely ONE halfway decent low budget film and has spent the rest of his time in the spotlight being an annoying putz.

3. I've never seen Harold and Maude.
Too many people told me I had to see it. So I avoided it like the plague.

4. It's been my favorite movie since I was ten years old.
Really, it's worth three-fifty to rent it. If you take any advice this year from me, make it this one.

5. Fair enough.
I can watch it with subtitles so I don't have to listen to the soundtrack.

6. One of my favorites
Beautiful arangement, they also did a fine cover of Don't Walk Away Renee. I remember them both when they were first released many many years ago..

7. It wasn't a cover.
Michael Brown WROTE "Walk Away Renee" (One of the greatest songs of all time by any sane standard.)

My dad told me when I was real young that they could never tour because they sounded so bad live; the only place were they had the magic was the studio. According to the few articles about them I've read, that was true.

I wish that strain of baroque pop had been taken up by other bands; they had a somewhat individual, uncopied sound.

10. I got confused
with the Four Tops Motown version I guess. It's been so many years, classic song at any rate.

12. I wish more music sounded like that....
That almost fey string arrangement, the convoluted melody, the sense of innocent longing. Almost everything the Left Banke did was great, but that one, "Desiree" and "Walk Away Renee" were just.....light years beyond excellent.
