my dog can levitate

When he wants to come up on the couch if I'm on it, he sits there, puts his paws up on the couch and cries sadly until I help him up (he's still a little guy). But...

If he's on the floor when I leave the room, and come back, he's sitting comfortably on the couch.

The only logical conclusion is that he can levitate when nobody's looking.

3. Research that breed and back problems.
They can last 3 years or they can make it to 10-12.

5. actually
I did research the breed. I'm not stupid. Back problems are not widespread. Hip and knee problems, though, are more common.

Most every reference I've seen refers to Bulldogs lying on a couch - it's their favorite activity. Because YOU knew a bulldog with back problems doesn't mean they're commonplace.

6. Be aware and beware
I'm not sure what research you are looking at, but PLEASE talk to your vet!

10. Didn't I already tell you?
and it matched what I had researched about the breed.

Again, because you knew ONE dog with a back problem, it doesn't make it commonplace.

11. I hope you are listening to the advice of your vet
My cousin is one....maybe she's confused, but she would tell you to keep your pup off stairs and furniture....quick. Don't let bad habits continue.

12. It's OK Dookus.......Sometimes my back hurts in MY old age
And I'd be pretty unhappy if someone kept my ass off the couch.
I might even bite.

I saw pix of your puppy the other day....Nice dog.

4. Skinner's Box
If you put your dog in a box, ring a bell, and offer him a treat. Then he'll levitate. Soon he'll levitate every time you ring the bell, treat or not.

9. Our old golden retriever would use the couch only when we were not in
It took great skill to catch her in the act, since we had 'trained' her to stay off of there. :silly: That was a truly brilliant dog in many ways.

16. yes...
a lot of dogs seem to learn that going on the couch is wrong only if people are watching. They learn that lesson REALLY well.

I like havin' the dog up on the couch with me, so it's not a problem.

13. my puppy too
Edited on Thu Sep-16-04 02:04 AM by allalone
he is 1/2 mini dachshund and 1/2 yorkie. I worry about his back cuz he's really short. he cries and carries on to be picked up onto the bed. However, if I leave the room somehow he magically gets up there himself. He is afraid to try going down the stairs from the bedroom which is good cuz they are very steep. I end up carrying him down.
he's short in height but long in body. OK he's short, long and hairy. His name is Pete and if I knew how to do the pic thing I would post one.

17. It's easy to post a pic
first, the pic must reside somewhere on a website. There are free photo hosting sites (like www.photobucket.com) where you can upload pictures.

Then, find the picture on the web. Right-click on it and choose Properties. There will be a URL describing the location of the picture (it will look like http://www.....)

Copy that text, then paste it into your post here and voila! A picture shows up.

We wanna see Pete!

20. Pete's adorable!
He looks to be about the size of my dog Rufus.

Here's Rufus.

And to everyone else, I apologise for posting Rufus's picture so many times but I just got it and I'm sooo excited to have a picture of him I can hardly stand myself.
