I haven't tried doing that myself, but I've had them twice at Asian restaurants. They are suprisingly good.

17. Green Plantains

Cut in inch long portions, fried in a good oil, pull out and flattened, and fried again until golden. Sprinkle some salt and pepper and dip in a spicy mango or pineapple salsa.
