3. Thanx....As an on and off R/C modeller I'm glad I got to see that.

Also glad I didnt spend two years of my life building it first.

The problem with flying such big scale models is that maneuvering is required almost immediatly after take off to keep the plane in constant visual range.

I think they would have been fine if they could have flown on course and gained more altitude and airspeed before attempting turns.

Back to the drawing board....Next time build another Piper Cub.

Thanx again for the vid link

4. I feel sick.
All that time and effort, not to mention the money put into this project.

5. That was painful
As an RC flyer, I know how much it hurts to have something like that happen. The engines alone cost about $2000 USD each not to mention the thousands of hours that go into building the model. The group that built it hasn't published any post-mortem information about what went wrong. As a technician I'm always curious about what failed and why. I hope they figure it out before the next try.

6. Pretty simple what went wrong.

Once it banked that far on its final turn, the thing was dead. Planes cannot turn out of spirals like that IRL. Models won't be able to either. It basically executed a maneuver that you never see a real B-52 or jet liner or something of that size do. For a very good reason -- unrecoverable.
