Appendicitis, the lady in the other bed and bumper stickers

The phone rang at about 4:30 a.m. today. My daughter was calling from an emergency room to tell me that she was about to have surgery. A drive of 80 miles in the fog brought us to the hospital where her surgery was just ending. She is doing fine tonight and should go home in the morning.

Her roomie, an 83 year old heart patient, was watching TV while we visited. Every time Bush* would be mentioned I would her her say, " I just can't stand that man. Get him out of here." In a conversation later that day, she apologized and said she should not have said that. I reassured her that I certainly was not offended and totally agreed with her. I hope that her ticker keeps going until election day and beyond.

On the way home, I saw quite a few Kerry bumper stickers and yard signs. There were no Bush* signs until I got about 15 miles from home. The day ended a lot better than it started.

I forgot. I co-worker brought my daughter a top 10 reasons list about why she got appendicitis. Number one was something about becoming ill when she saw Bush* on TV.

She seems to be doing fine. She just needs to sleep. Too bad she is in the hospital. They won't let her do that.
