IVAN!-NFL may move Titans-Dolphins game to Saturday

ESPN.com news services
Titans coach Jeff Fisher and Dolphins coach Dave Wannstedt have agreed to play their game in Miami on Saturday instead of Sunday due to the threat of Hurricane Ivan, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports.

In a phone call Thursday morning, Wannstedt made the proposal and Fisher agreed to it.

The NFL will now consider the proposal for a final decision, to be made later Thursday or tonight whether to play Saturday in Miami, keep the Sunday kickoff (1 p.m. ET), or move the game to another date.

If there is a hurricane warning for Sunday, police personnel might not be available to provide security at Pro Player Stadium (good call Miami and NFL). The Titans have no issues with traveling to Miami; however, they are concerned about being stuck in Miami during the hurricane.

1. It's official, moved to Saturday at 1 PM
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=1877994

"The NFL game between the Titans and Dolphins is being moved from Sunday to Saturday at 1 p.m. ET because of concerns about Hurricane Ivan hitting the Miami area.

Ivan could reach southern Florida as soon as Sunday, forecasters said. The Dolphins and Titans had been scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. ET that day.

"It's pretty wild," linebacker Junior Seau said Thursday. "Where I come from, we have earthquakes. It just happens. Here, you can monitor hurricanes for days and days and your life stops.

"With the weather we have, it can scare a lot of our fan support away and that's understandable."

2. Will it be televised nationally?
I hope so. More NFL football = good.

3. I doubt it
Certainly not nationally on CBS, and ESPN is tied up with college football. I've even heard grumblings DirectTV might show it delayed, on Sunday.

4. Actually CBS is tied up with the US Open
I was lookign to see if the Ohio State-Marshall game was going to be on TV here and CBS has tennis but does have some open time to show the game. The logistics could be a problem though-those trucks drive from game to game so they could get clogged up trying to get out of there.

5. I'll be there
Hoping like hell that Miami lines up a decent squad tomorrow. Admittedly, I'm a little worried about our "offense".
