A pet peeve from a feminist's point if view...

Ok...this seriously bothers me and i would like to do a bit of late night ranting.

When a woman gets pregnant it's obviously a very joyous time. But it annoys me severely when a woman's spouse/partner/boyfriend says "were pregnant". Obviously , the SO of the pregnant woman is not carrying the child and the comment is made to reflect that the child that may be born is theirs. However it still annoys me to hear it and all i think is "you are not the one carrying the kid..its not gonna come out of your vagina.. so please shut up". If i ever get married and my husband says that I will be forced to slap him and step on his foot.


Sorry to all who have used this phrase before , and my post is not made to offend..rather it is for venting purposes. *sigh*:argh:

11. well, you've left me with one choice.

I'll have to send a denial clause the deity senate, wait for it to be reviewed by the bill entrance committee, present it, wait for them all to debate it, then vote, then send the bill into the lair of the mythological creatures to be eaten, spewed up, then I send it back to the senate to be re-examined. After that, they'll vote, and if all goes well, I'll send it to the bill enforcement committee to be reviewed before it's sent to god to remove my restriction from donuts. It's a simple process, isn't it?

I dont know what sort of heavenly kingdom you reside in ...... but punk this is a dictator's paradise. So if you cant stand abstinence from the donuts...i will be forced to throw you out. And DONT EVEN THINK about sneaking back in afterwards..cause i hired me some three headed dogs to guard the gate..and the only way to distract them is with DONUTS. So take your pick kiddo...forget about the scrumptious heavenly donuts or face expulsion from this place. Got it?

I'd be irritated, too. But I don't. I actually think it's kind of endearing, - like a guy's trying to show solidarity with his partner. Otherwise he's just there for the fun part and then get's off scott free. I always looked at it like the guy was trying to step up to his responsibilities and share in the good and the bad of the experience.

I never thought about it that way before. I've felt this way about it though since i was a little girl. And thought that i could get other peoples takes on the phrase. Your's sure is nice and optimistic though. I like it and will keep it in mind next time i see a dude utter those two words.

You Know, it's funny you brought this up, cause when this "we" thing first started I remember thinking, "What the hell?...Did I just hear that guy say "we"?"
Being a Male myself it seems a little controlling and pushy to assume that you are having just a hard time with having the baby as your wife.

Ever had the feeling that you don't like something and can't really pinpoint why?....this is one of them...
