Man (Drunk) Wants To Visit Neighbors - Attacked With Spade
<snip>

A GLENORCHY man's late-night attempt to get to know the neighbours ended with him being punched, kicked and hit with a spade and an empty jar, a court heard yesterday.

Stephen John Sutcliffe said after arriving home at 12.30am, having drunk about half a bottle of scotch, he decided "for some silly reason" to visit his neighbours.

The visit led to Maria Ann Coles, 19, of Sussex St, Glenorchy, being charged with assaulting and wounding.

Her brother, Lewis Wayne Coles, 21, and half-brother Eugene William Smith, 28, are accused of assaulting Mr Sutcliffe by punching and kicking him while dragging him along the ground.

All three denied the charges in the Supreme Court in Hobart yesterday.
