14 Children and Pregnant Again
Has anyone seen this show on Discovery Health? These people have 14 kids, including 2 pairs of twins, all 15 and under, and the wife is pregnant again. What the heck is wrong with them?

Right now they're on a shopping trip. They are filling one cart after another, with entire cases of food. The bill was $828.32!!

Oh and they all share 2 bathrooms.

2. Yikes
Some people do not believe in contraceptives, or contraceptives and birth control are not permitted by their religious doctrine... that could be a possible explanation...

Or it could be they're psycho and really do want 15 kids... :wtf:

7. This is the kind of thing that makes me think
forced sterilization may not be such a bad thing after all.

To me, it's a form a child abuse that families who can't even afford to care for ONE child continue to bring multiple children into the world without the slightest consideration for how that child will fare under the circumstances.

12. Years ago
I saw a news feature about a family in rural Wisconsin that had 22 children. After the film footage showing the assembly-line nature of the family's life, the newscaster commented: "If you've been watching closely, you've probably noticed that only 20 children appear to be living in the family home. That's because the two oldest girls have become nuns."

No kidding!

Who could blame them?

14. There were a couple families like that in my home area
They didn't believe in contraception. For most people, it is too stressful financially and emotionally to have nearly that many children. Some people like large families because it does provide a ready made support network when the children become adults. I think that they should have started adopting children several pregnancies ago and gotten sterilized.

If you ask me, the advent of the two + bathroom, 3-or-less children home was the beginning of the downfall of our society.

My liberalism does not include forcing people to have or not have children. Choice, remember?

But I do think it's irresponsible to have so many children when we're faced with a global population crisis, regardless of how much of a minority they are.

34. Hmm...although I don't agree with it, it *IS* their choice....
Some people just enjoy having and raising children. I believe I know what story you are talking about and in this family the father had a pretty well paying job and they could afford to have these children. Sure things might be a bit tight, but that's just life.

I guess I don't think we should chastise them for having so many kids. My grandparents had about that many and no one said anything back then.

Yes, we DO have to worry about things such as the environment, etc. but what if all 15 of these children grow up to be great environmentalists. I'd rather have THEM in our world than some other yahoo's 2 fundy children.

End of rant.

35. 14 kids is cool. My grandmother was the 13th of 14 kids.
So, I wouldn't be here unless she had been born. My great-grandmother was born in 1861...she was widowed and she died 2 months after I was born. What a great lady she was! Best of all, she was a Missouri Democrat!

43. That's who this was about
and I ended up watching it later and it was horribly creepy, IMO.

All of the four girls said when they grow up they want to be a stay at home mom and have 14 kids and such.

The parents talked about finding a "good mate" for each of their kids.

They are very religious but Mr. Moonbeam and I never heard what religion they are. They hold church services in their home with another family that has eight kids.

I kept thinking, "if you REALLY want a big family, have a couple of your own then adopt the rest! Sheesh!!!"

They showed her having her fifteenth and I wondered when they are going to stop. When she enters menopause? UG!!!!

Mr. Moonbeam had nothing but ugly things to say about them that I won't type out here.

46. I honestly didn't know
i thought maybe they were Seventh-Day Adventist, because the mom and the daughters always wore dresses and their hair was reallllly long, like they never cut it. And all their dresses matched. The boys always wore polo shirts and khakis and the colors all matched and matched the girls' dresses, too. The dad always wore a matching polo and khakis.

It was like watching a cult.

He talked about being elected, then losing.

47. They are freaks
Not because of the number of kids, mind you, but the way that they are raising them. Each child has a younger child to care for. Some of the kids are helping to work on the family home (not a biggie, except for the power tools).

And the names? I'm sorry, but "Jinger"?

If these people were capable of parenting all the children equally, then great. But using the "spare the rod" mentality on that many kids :(
