Max!!!!
Edited on Tue Aug-31-04 02:37 PM by sparosnare
Here he is! Isn't he adorable?

Thanks to everyone who reponded to my post yesterday, especially SoCalDem. Ellie (my dog) and Max are getting along just fine. At first, Ellie was so excited she kept barking and scared the heck out of Max. After awhile though, Ellie backed off and eventually Max became curious and approached her. For the time being they are separated unless someone is home watching them, but I predict a long friendship between the two. A pic of Max with Ellie, about 3 hours after their introduction -

Sorry the pics are so small - first time I've used photobucket.

7. No problem at all -
I hung out in a big room with about 10 kittens; he was the only one that really paid attention to me - actually came and sat at my feet, staring up at me. I couldn't resist! His face is so sweet.

If you don't mind another question - should I keep reminding him where his litterbox is or does he know that already? Don't know if I should pick him up periodically and put him in it. The living room and the bathroom with the litterbox are at opposite ends of the house. Might sound silly, but I don't want him to get confused! Right now, while I'm at work, he's confined to the bathroom. :hi:

8. Kitties are very smart about their bathroom habits..
The only "problem" you might have is ih your pooch "intimidates" or blocks Max from getting to his litter box.. You might need to keep an eye out to see how interested you dog is in the box ..

Our Skunkie is a very "private" cat, and when I rescued Willie, he would follow Skunk everywhere.. We did not realize it until Skunk was so sick we though he would die..

The vet felt his belly, and said he though he had a huge "mass" in his abdoomen, and in cats his age, it was usually a malignancy.. We had xrays done, and it turned out that he was just massively constipated.. Every time he would head for the box, Willie would follow him, and he would change his mind.. so he was just not going..

$300 later he was fine, and every time we saw him heading for the box, we would pick willie up and wait til Skunk emerged..

9. Oh my!
Amazing about your Skunk not using the bathroom....poor thing. I never would have thought they could be so private. I'll keep and eye on Max and make sure Ellie doesn't bother him when he heads that direction.

You might find this funny - when I went to bed last night, decided to keep the bathroom door open so Max could roam around my room (not lock him in all night). He jumped on my bed and proceeded to burrow in my hair, kneading and purring. I moved him, he went right back. I thought he would stop but he didn't and I couldn't sleep. Eventually I had to put him in the bathroom. :-)

10. You're his Mom.. and he "kneads" you..
My Sara will still "nurse" on my earlobe, if she gets a chance.. I scold her and tell her she's a "big girl", but she still tries..

Cats are a hoot and a hlaf.. People who say they are aloof just never had the right one..

We also have one (Sammy) who will fetch a ball for HOURS.. We eventually stop throwing them, and yet he will find another and bring it to us.. I have to lock him out of my office at times.. One day he brought me the ball 24 times in 15 minutes..:grr:. I think he has OCD :)
