I have a 45-minute commute (one way) and that 90 minutes a day is when I do most of my phone calling. Efficient use of time. I have voice dialing, though, so I never have to look at my phone and dial numbers.

I don't recycle. Too lazy.

I eat meat.

If I need to shop between 9PM and 9AM (the hours that my favorite locally-owned store are open) I go to Mal-Wart.

I keep my diaries, journals, etc., household bills, study notes from classes, and thesis notes in spiral-bound notebooks. The local wal-mart had spiral-bound notebooks (MEAD, very good quality) for TWENTY CENTS. TWENTY FUCKING CENTS.

I bought 100 of them. $20 and I have notebooks to last me for two or three years.

Once - and only once - I went in, needing something for the remodeling and not willing to drive to lowes for it. It was weird.... Target and Kmart are across the street, and there's a semi-indy on the way home from work.

In NY smokers can't smoke indoors anywhere. And when there was smoking sections, I never smoked indoors anyway. I never smoked in anyone elses home unless they too were smokers, and I always asked if anyone minded in my own home if I had company over. I've been told that smoking is a disgusting habit, ot that dissapproving look while sitting in my car at Wal-Mart, standing on a corner waiting for the light to turn to walk, sitting in an outdoor designated smoking area at a hospital. Maybe folks in upstate NY are just more vocal about this distaste for smokers. So I don't mind stepping outside, but the next person who offers thier negative opinion, or gives me that look, is going to get a lit Salem Slim Light 100 right in their eye :)

I just remember about 8 years ago, when they stopped letting people smoke in California bars, all my smoker friends were ready to storm the friggin' bastille-- and all of a sudden, I started to notice that my clothes didn't reek when I would come home from going out.. And it's always weird for me to go back to the midwest and see that they still have smoking sections in restaurants (ick) ... but I do think there are other thing that require our attention at the moment. It's one of those issues that the right will use to browbeat us with. They'll wrap themselves in the flag and speak of "family values" and talk about how allowing gay marriage will be forcing "our way of life" down their childrens, blah, blah, blah... It just seems as though the gay marriage issue is like the issue of the day used to divide, instead of a serious and thoughtful debate.

But until there is legally acknowledged same sex marriage, there are steps folks can take to protect themselves against losing property, hospital visitation, inheritance, etc.
