Young Nick-Nick hasn't eaten his dry chow for days.
I was really worried. He is skinny and getting skinnier. So I heated a cup of chicken stock in the microwave and poured it over his dry chow. It took him 85 seconds to scarf down that bowl of chow! Lesson learned.

2. What kind of dog is Nick-Nick?
We used to have Huskies. Mom used to keep a stockpot for the dogs. Just the dogs. Chicken bones and carcasses, but sometimes fish bits.

They thought they was livin'.

3. Pound-hound
I got Nick-Nick at the Dallas SPCA on Bastille Day (7/14) last year. He looks like a skinny schnauzer and runs like a demon possessed. His "street" name was Deon (as in Deon Sanders). He is black and he is fast. I think he was with a black family in Dallas because he does love black folks. Hell, he loves brown folks too. He is a great little dog (55 pounds). His full name is Canicula (Latin name for the Dogstar). My other dog, who is an 11-y/o pound hound, is Sirius (the Greek name for the Dogstar). We got Sirius at a pound in Alexandria, Va., in 1994. Sirius is a well adjusted, racially tolerant dog too. Arf!

4. Pookie, my departed Basset Hound
learned that trick early, & refused to eat dry kibble.

I used many different moisteners, but her favorite was spaghetti sauce.

Seriously? I'm surprised the acid in the tomatoes didn't bother him...

8. Pookie could digest anything
she could get in her mouth.

Bassets are chow hounds...a lot of them become fat, because they beg & eat, & then sleep.

6. Sirius absolutly loves Basset Hounds.
He always has. He crouches down to their level and plays. All day, at that level, if he can. Sorry you lost your dear dog. If there is a heaven, we will see our dogs there. That, I believe!

I really miss having a dog...I am renting now, & no animals allowed.

9. I never give my dog just plain old dry food.
I always mix a can of dog food in with it. How would you like to eat the same old dry stuff day after day?

15. lucky pups! =)

Our dog usually gets raw egg mixed w/sprouts and oil, added to his dry kibble, otherwise he gets a little constipated!

11. But I asked you this who learned the lesson
other than you'll have to put chicken broth on all future servings of dog chow or your dog won't touch it.

Your dog has you trained well

:loveya:

(who am I kidding - my cats have me trained well)

16. Are his teeth OK? Or is he just really spoiled?
You might want to rule out any mouth or gastrointestinal problems, just to be on the safe side. :D
