Who Uses the Avant Web Browser?
I visited Emergency Underground a little while ago and followed a link to Avant Browser. I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who uses it and how it compares with Microsoft IE, to which I'm about to give its walking papers.

1. I use it a lot
I have Mozilla Firefox as a backup, but I like the functions of AB quite a bit.

It's an IE wrap-around, meaning that it's based on Internet Explorer. But it adds some added security, pop-up blocking, script blocking, tabbed browsing, and skinnable features (I even created a few skins for it - look for "fightingirish" at this site: http://avant.getskinned.org/ )

It is safer that IE to use, but it is not 100% secure. But if you are browsing sites that are configured for IE, it works very well. I discovered it a while ago while looking up Opera (another excellent browser). Avant came up as a free alternate.

If you install AB, don't uninstall IE, since it is used quite a bit by Windows for offline browsing (which should be safe). Just make AB your default, and if you like having a backup browser, Firefox works well.

3. Have you looked into Maxthon?
That's what I'm using right now and I absolutely love it ...

It too is based on IE, but it gives you a lot of great features ... too many to list here! :)

4. MyIE and Avant are very similar
Maxthon used to be known as MyIE.

Both Maxthon and Avant seem to be the IE that should have been, had Microsoft not gotten lazy with it.

5. Maybe one of you guys can answer a q?
Sometimes I go to a website and I can't see the "clickables" or they're in a very pale yellow font that I can't read. Does this mean the page is set for a browser other than IE?
Anything I can do about this?
Thanks.
