I just want to commend all the "young" DUers
It has occurred to me over the last few weeks that there are a lot of college aged (and younger) DUers floating around here...

I want to commend all you crazy "kids" (that isn't an insult BTW...
to a 40 year old you ARE kids and boy do I wish I could switch places with you!)

But I want to commend you for giving a damn and trying to make a difference in this country...maybe if the morons in MY era
(myself included) had spent more time dedicating themselves to staying informed prior to herr bush, we wouldn't be in this mess!

You guys deserve a gigantic pat on the back!

"I love you man!"

(And yes, I just quoted a corporate beer commercial...see how screwed up my era is? LOL)

1. I hope I still qualify as a "younging"
I'm 26 and have been out of college now for two years!!!

I feel old but I love being this age!!

I also love getting older because I really feel that my life is progressing in a good direction.

I'm content with the way my life is at this point.

2. From a 46-year-old ...
... ain't no big diff between being 20 and being my age.

You learn a lot of stuff over the years. You become more confident in your strengths and less confident in the world. You learn how to be miserable with dignity and not to dignify misery. And your driving gets better until your eyesight goes.

Other than that, it's not much of a change on the inside.

The "kids" today have my support. They are going to have to clean up after about a dozen generations of the most lazy, arrogant, greedy, wasteful sons-a-bitches the world has ever whelped. Cleaning the Augean Stables will be a vacation compared to what's ahead.

3. I was a buffoon at 20
I meant well... but didn't exactly devote my time to political causes!

4. I'm still a buffoon
It doesn't change.

I've learned to hide it a little better, though.

Someday, about fifty years from now, laying on what will be my death bed, and I'll be thinking, "OK, do I finally get to grow up now?"
