I spend a lot of time on the road, and sometimes go mad with nothing but bad music and bad Christians on the radio. Even around here, some of my favorite stations are low wattage, and drop the signal even lower at night, so 10 miles west they die. Buying or burning a shitload more CDs is an option, but not a good one.
Got it at Radio Shack, which isn't as wierd as it sounds. The price was the same as Best Buy and most of the others, and the local Radio Shack guys are OK. RS also has one of the best return and repair policies.
$150 for the car setup and another 125 bucks for a year's service. Had a problem signing up in the store, so when I got home, I spent 10 minutes opening the boxes and plugging the thing in the car, and another 10 minutes online signing up.
Wotta Deal! The RS unit seems to be their version of the high-rated Audiovox PNP2, and works perfectly unless you're in a tunnel or Times Square. It's got so much stuff built in, it's far more dangerous than a cellphone playing with it while passing trucks.
BBC news, C-SPAN, the All Elvis channel, 50's R&B, the opera channel, the reggae channel, comedy channel, classic radio show channel, sports, traffic and weather... whatever your tastes, it's there. Hear a piece you like? Set it to remember the piece and it lets you know when it's on again.
Oh, yeah, it's got the complete AAR schedule and Radio Left, too.
If I don't kill myself while twiddling with the knobs, this thing will be a lifesaver.
I just might buy the BoomBox for another hundred bucks. I will buy it if it goes on sale somewhere.
