Missouri Bans Sexy Highway Billboards

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Show Me State is cracking down on bawdy billboards. Gov. Bob Holden on Thursday signed a bill banning sexually suggestive billboards that promote strip clubs and other adult businesses. The ban applies within one mile of Missouri highways.



Some billboards in Missouri portray scantily clad women and read "Live Nude" or "Red Hot Nude."


"We have the right to drive the highways of this state without children being assaulted by these images," Holden said.


Holden said the new law will also make the roads safer by reducing driver distractions.

If they get rid of these billboards, they could get rid of the all important "Y" (such as in "Larry Flynnt's Hustler Club" that you might see as you leave St. Louis) that a kid could need to edge himself closer to victory while playing the Alphabet Game on a long road trip.

You can't believe how backward this part of the country is.

They have been debating this on local talk radio.

That's the type of callers that call into these shows.
Religious zealots who fall over themselves at the first hint of support of something that...

I called into this local talk show one day.
I said that I thought that the billboards around town announcing that BILLY GRAHAM was appearing at Arrowhead Stadium in July, was at least as offensive as the billboards advertising "BAZOOKAS' strip club, or Erotic City, a peep show and juice bar.

The callers in this area responded to my complaint with the most vicious of bible-thumping, scripture-quoting, SAVE THE CHILDREN, venom that they could muster.

It sucks here.
It's scary here.

No one has a sense of humor any more.
At least the host of the show knew what I was doing, and he encouraged it.
