Listened to an article about the congo yesterday. It appears it is a staple along with guava root to the Congo folk.

But there are a lot of endangered species being killed for meat in parts of Africa, it's called "Bush meat" and it's pretty heartbreaking, to see the dead chimps and gorillas
they poach.
