Okay! You've won the lottery and move into a ritzy subdivision...
where they have very strict community standards. What's the first thing you do to piss off your neighbors? I wouldn't move into a ritzy neighborhood. I'd be sooooooooo far out in the middle of nowhere that it would take me two hours just to get to the end of my driveway.

2. If I had the money
Last place I would be is in a ritzy subdivision.....I would opt out to live quietly in the country - far away.

3. My wife and I buy houses that need renovation,
live there and renovate the home and then sell it and start over. Over the years we have gradually increased our equity and slowly purchased larger homes that had higher potential resale values.

The house we are working on now is in a gated communitty. The city is one of the most liberal areas of St. Louis (U. City for the St. Louisians on here), but the neighborhood I'm in now is one of the "ritzier" neighborhoods.

So, the day we closed on the house, I show up with a chainsaw and a twelve pack of beer and start cutting down some trees that were half dead. One tree was stubborn and would not give up the ghost so I backed my truck into the yard, threw a chain around it, and yanked it out of the ground, making quite a comotion in the process.

The neighbors still do not know what to think about their new coonass neighbor.

4. Hell, I'm never moving ever again, even if I do win the lottery
Too much of pain in the ass this last time, I would simply stay where I was and do improvements to the place I've got. Don't have to worry about my neighbors either, I'm in the middle of twenty acres and we can see them at all(though we do occaisonally hear them.
