Detroit Tigers Hot Dog Vendor Told To Knock Off The Opera Singing

Ketchup and mustard are still available with Comerica Park hot dogs, but no more opera.

The singing hot dog vendor, Charley Marcuse, has been silenced.

He can't even trill about who shut him up.

"Unfortunately, I'm not allowed to comment on it," Marcuse, 22, of Huntington Woods said Tuesday.

Marcuse had been belting out his signature "HoOoOoOtt DOoOgGs" in an operatic baritone while peddling franks since Tiger Stadium's final season in 1999. He got the idea while working a Three Tenors concert at the stadium.

At Comerica, his mini-opera shows have been a fixture in sections near home plate.

Suddenly, during the Tigers' home stand in mid-May, he was told to pipe down.
