6. 25...
33 now, but I'm not bald-- just thinner... I used to have a massive mane of curly locks...

just chill out... fuck rogaine

if other people are more concerned about your thinning hair than your inner self, then they're not worth a rat's ass anyway...

4. Saw Palmetto supplements
I've seen quite a few studies that Saw Palmetto works as good as Propecia for hair loss. YOu can get it at a health food store.

If you do a search for saw palmetto and hair loss in google, you'll find some good sites with info.

5. I started going bald at 20.
It sucks, but I'm not about to waste thousands of dollars on some bullshit "cure." I've got much better things to do with my limited resources!

9. if this was 15 years ago, you'd have a problem
Edited on Sat May-29-04 11:38 PM by Doosh
but now we have rogain, hair weaves, hair replacement surgery. You don't have to be bald for long.

trust me, putting things into perspective this is the LEAST of your problems in life!

Sometimes baldness stops, you may only lose 15-20% of your hair and that's it for the rest of your life.

how is your genetics? is your father bald? grandfathers?

my dad still has all his hair at 46, and his father kept all his hair into old age. My grandfather on my mothers side lost about 30-40% of his hair in his late 20's/early 30's but kept about 60% of his hair into his 70's, though it was thin it covered a good portion of his scalp.

I'm 25 and still have all my hair, but who knows what lurks around the corner.

14. the only sure fire
solution would be hair replacement like the one's done by Bosley, very expensive but they look great, they give you your real hair back.

other than that, propecia and rogain is the best you can do, but there is no natural cure for baldness.

you know it's common for men to sort of shed some hair, have there hair thin out a little in there early 20's, usually around 21. That's not only the hair on the scalp, but all over the body. My hair was thicker during my teen years and thinned a little into my 20's, for a while I thought I was losing my hair, but it was just a natural process. Maybe that's what's happening to you.

All the older males in my family are bald on the top of their head or have thin hair.

when did they start losing it? does anybody in your family have naturally thick hair (not necessarily super curly, it could be wavy or straight but thick) or do you all have straight, thin hair when you were younger?

how noticeable is your hair loss? maybe it has something to do with stress or taking a certain type of medication?

18. It's not very noticeable.
It's just thinning on the top of my head.

No, no male in my family has thick hair. It's all either thin or bald on top.

I am under a lot of stress as of late, so that could be it. I'm also on an antidepressant, but I don't think that would do it.

17. Don't take this as an insult
Be sure to wash your hair thoroughly, including massaging your scalp very well. That way, no pores get clogged.

I'm not saying you're not a clean person. :)

Of course, that's just my opinion. I could be totally wrong!

21. Yes, but do you take time to massage the scalp well with shampoo?
I told you I'm not saying that you are not a clean person. :)

A hair dresser of mine, years ago, told me to massage the scalp well to help keep from losing hair due to "clogging." Of course, she may have been full of shit. I have no idea.

Just passing it along!

plenty of dignified people have had shaved heads...

that and it will look better than male pattern baldness.

30. Male pattern baldness is sexy.
My 34-yr old husband now has a bald-spot the size of a tea saucer, rapidly taking over his hairline, and I think he's never looked more masculine, mature, and sexy. Other male friends have gone really short (to hide the thinness) and I think that looks great too.

Men never believe it, but women either don't care about thinning hair or they think it's hot.

34. I'm in the same boat, man. 22 year old balding male checking in.
Copious teasing with a comb has made it possible for me to give the hair on top the appearance of thickness - when I tell people I'm going bald, they generally say, "No you aren't."

I also have the barber/hairstylist cut the hair on the back and sides about an inch shorter than the hair on top. When even that isn't working, I just shave the whole damned head, as I recently did. It's not the easiest solution (particularly shaving the back of the head), but at least it's consistent and saves on the cost of shampoo. ;)

It works better for some than others

If anything, it will prevent hairloss.

If you try it, get the generic brands, go full strength and use it twice a day religiously.
