11. Thanks! I need to get some "action shots"
one of these days (these little digital cameras aren't good for that, and my 35mm is unwieldy). Puck is pretty much spring loaded, and despite his size, Oberon can manage a decent back flip, lol!(Miro pretty much stays anchored to the guest bed until dinner time).

30. Oberon is a Maine Coon
Edited on Fri May-28-04 11:28 PM by Jen6
(you've got a good eye)!Puck is a Turkish Angora; a small, lightly built breed from (obviously) Turkey. They are the border collies of the cat world; devoted, highly intelligent and athletic. They are decadently soft too, like silk! If the Muslims didn't consider them sacred (the prophet Muhammed was said to have some as pets) I fear some unscupulous person would have made them into coats!
Here's Puck's mom. Puck is only seven months old, and her coat hasen't finished growing:

Oberon still has growing to do too; Maine Coons take about four years to mature, but the sized difference is pretty noticible

Lucky for Puck, Oberon is a very gentle (and patient) giant :-)

23. i'm not sure what else....
she was given to me last year as a kitten about this time. got her fixed a few months ago, so she's been OUTSIDE for the first time this spring and LOVES it, but she's mostly an inside kitty. she needs a friend tho, i'm looking for another kitten, shouldn't be too hard to find.

25. My cats are experiencing their first spring too
I don't let them outside. Therefore, they are obsessed with the window. I call it their "tv". They can sit in it for hours.
You should have NO PROBLEM finding kittens!!!

28. Here's some more mega Maine Coon kitties
I found these on the web. Here's one with an average sized cat:

This one is Oberon's Grandfather:

Obie is almost that size now (he still has three years of growing to do). He's so big, his ass hangs off the kitty tree that's more than ample for the other two!

More can be found at www.mainlysilver.com

I would suggest www.petfinder.com to find an adoptable Maine Coon. I saw one on that site two weeks ago that was every bit as beautiful as Oberon!

37. Intelligent and loyal
Honky was gifted with the long hair gene making her a Balinese. Honky is very intelligent. She is leash trained, and will walk with me outside.

For a while, Honky would "answer" the phone when it rang.

One day, we got a visit from the police. Honky had taken a phone off the hook and we didn't know. My wife's workplace was trying to contact her, and after two days of busy signals, called the police to check on us!!We had to resort to rubber bands to keep the phone on the hook after that.

After surgery a few years back, I was bedfast, and Honky never left my side.

She's truly a one of a kind cat, and taught us to be meezer people.

Honky and Benny have the same parents, separated by one year.

Mini Moo and Chunky are rescues from a shelter that we volunteer for.

39. Did you ever read about the cat last year
that kept dialing 911 when his owners left him alone for the weekend? They had 911 on speed dial, and the cat taught himself to knock the phone off the hook and hit the speed dial. When someone picked up, he would meow repeatedly, and of course the police were always sent right away.Problem solved, no more lonliness! (I don't know if the owners used rubber bands after they figured out what was going on, lol)!

The cat in that story was a Turkish Angora (same as my Puck, pictured elsewhere on this thread). Middle Eastern and Asian breeds have many of the same personality traits; Puck also stayed with me when I was sick earlier this year, and she too walks on a leash! Remarkable companions, aren't they?
