Kurosawa's "Seven Samurai"
That's one of the best movies of all time. I know it's over 3 hours, but it uses the time well to develop characters and build on the story. I was really impressed and will likely buy it soon.

1. It's an excellent film!
Easily one of my two or three favorite Kurosawa films, along with "Rashomon" and "Ran."

10. 1954 Version
It was the original. I understand there's a remake of it that came out in Japan a few years back. I saw a great movie on cable a couple of years ago called "Heaven and Earth". It was about two feuding warlords.

3. I'm going to be collecting them all within a few months.
I'm using the money I've gained from my maturing career as a J>E translator to good use. Perhaps someday I'll even translate films. I've heard too many good things about Kurosawa's work to pass it up now that I'm getting a steady income flow.

5. I've only seen the film that was a remake: "The Magnificent Seven"
I liked the American version, but I must rent Kurosawa's orignial. I've never seen any of Kurosawa's films, actually.

6. Rent Yojimbo, too.
It inspired "A Fistful of Dollars".
