Joss Whedon -- "I just don't believe that the Buffyverse is dead."
Angel's Gone, But Not Whedon

The final episode of The WB's Angel has aired, but series co-creator Joss Whedon told Zap1it that the show's finale doesn't mark the end of the "Buffyverse," referring to the universe created in Angel's predecessor series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Whedon told the site that he's talking with Dark Horse Comics about reviving the Buffy comic-book series and making that a place where the two shows' mythology lives on.

Whedon added that he's also had a few discussions about an Angel TV movie or another spinoff, which he says he'd do only if a cogent idea comes to him and he can assemble enough of the cast and crew to execute it properly, the site reported. "I'd rather stop now than do anything by halves," he told the site. But, he added, "I just don't believe that the Buffyverse is dead."

1. I didn't like the finale
Not sure what I expected, but that wasn't it. I was left very unsatisfied, kinda like I was waiting all season long for a conclusion that just didn't happen. Not a good return on my viewing investment.

2. I have mised feelings about it
But I don't think it's the end of the Buffyverse myself and death has never been exactly a hinderance for any character, due to the very nature of the show.

I think we'll end up getting more closure someday. I wish it had happened last night, but I'm hopeful.

3. I liked it a lot
I thought its theme was pretty good, its not about winning, its about the fight.

And ending it with a fight to which we do not know the outcome was perfect.

And we DID get some resolutions:

1. resolution with Wes.
2. resolution with the Apocalypse (in that its going to be awhile before the Circle is rebuilt)
3. resolution with Connor and Angel
4. even little things like Harmony turning out to be the betrayer (although I think a bolder and more interesting move would have been to make her look more like someone who just about almost was ready to do good but then turned rather than the more cliched role she took on).

I thought it was good, but the very fact that it ended prematurely really sucks and I am boycotting WB shows for awhile (well, mostly because the rest of them suck).

4. I think Joss Whedon has mental problems, ego problems, and is an ass
Buffy's ending SUCKED! Angel's ending SUCKED! I loved both shows because I like consistancy and good story telling, Joss dropped the ball during Buffy season 6.

ARG Every time I think about either show I want to scream!

FUCK JOSS!

6. I'm really glad I wasn't the only one who was disappointed...
It wasn't a Joss ending. He told us long ago that he'd end every season as if it's the series finale. Something to where if it didn't come back for another season, we had closure. This one was DEVOID of it. It reaks of a cliffhanger. What happens? Do they all die? Do they triumph over evil? What the hell happened, Joss? I won't go as far as to say fuck Joss, because I find him to be a genius storyteller, but damn. He did drop the ball on this one. I also thought that the Buffy ending was quite good.

8. I liked the ending.
I thought the last show was well done. The tone was perfect. The theme was consistent.

And I have no problem with it ending with a fight.

10. I can't believe Joss Whedon is still alive.
Why can't he just go away and leave us alone?

I thought the end of Angel was rushed.

And didn't they cancel Dark Shadows, afterall? Therefore, there was NO REASON to cancel Angel. The Bastards. :grr:
