DU Road Trip! Show us your cities!
Post a picture of your city (or something interesting in your area of the country). Show us your daily hangout(s) or that special point of interest that's your city's claim to fame!

I'll start: on the left is a picture of the Castro here in SF and on the right is the Pony Express Monument in my hometown - St. Joseph, Missouri!

(Can't wait for the copycat thread  and btw, photobucket.com is an easy place to upload a picture.)

19. What no comments about the Best City in the World?
Just look at it, right next to Hohokam Park (where the Cubs train for the big season) where are those green trees are is the cemetary. You can see my house from here! It would probaly be somewhere near the middle of the picture to the left a little bit.

10. Well, 2 interesting things in my town...
.. Roskilde, Denmark:

Roskilde Cathedral, built on the foundation of a simple wooden church that was erected more than a 1000 years ago. It has recently been placed on the UNESCO list of world heritage. It is also the site of the tombs/graves of most Danish kings & queens, including what is thought to be the grave of the 2nd king of Denmark, who ruled the kingdom at the turn of the First millenium.

The trademark of the annual Roskilde Festival, the Canopy/Orange stage, was first introduced to the festival in 1978, having bought from Rolling Stones (some say it was bought at an auction held after a tour that went bankrupt, others say it was given to the festival by the group and someone completely else say that it was bought directly from the group for the neat sum of 100.000 DKK). It has since served its purpose, though it has been modified numerous times. Most recently in 2001, after tragedy struck and 9 young men were trampled to death (cause of death: suffocation due to the pressure to their chest) during a Pearl Jam concert. This also led to the addition of walkways and mosh pits (4 of them), so the pictures above are before/after - the before being shot in 1999 during a Metallica concert and the after shot being shot in 2002 during a Rammstein performance. Last year, Metallica performed at Roskilde once again and gave a performance that was universally praised as being one of the best 'tallica performances ever.

San Francisco's oldest basilica is only 228 years old (Mission Dolores) - we have a way to go compared to Roskilde Cathedral!

as it looked in 1902. Most of the building are still the same except for the building on this side of the street on the left. A bank is now there. Oh, and the streets are paved. This is the corner of Broadway (Hwy 81) and Main Steet.
