I loved "Troy"
If you liked the LOTR movies and Gladiator, you'll love Troy. There's some great battle scenes but the movie isn't bogged down by them and it actually manages an interesting storyline even though it's no secret who actually won the war.

Brad Pitt was great in this movie. When I heard he was playing Achillies I was pretty pissed off. I never thought too highly of him but he's great in this film.

1. I'm looking forward to seeing it.
I had to read it in school, years ago, and it didn't gel until I saw it acted out in a play. Wonder how faithful the movie is?

2. Haven't seen it
The reviews I've heard are good. My cousin, whom I didn't expect would like the film, gave it a good endorsement.

4. The name of a city-state
The united Greece went to war with the city of Troy over a woman. Helen was the face that launched a thousand ships as I'm sure you've heard the expression before. The movie is basically the story of that war.

"The Illiad" poem by Homer also tells the story. Why the Wolfgang Pettersen called his movie "Troy" instead of it's original title I don't know. I would've preferred the name "The Illiad" myself.

7. Probably because he took such unforgivable liberties with Homer's story
Eliminated Cassandra altogether? Had someone other than Clytemnestra kill Agamemnon? And he makes these changes for absolutely no good reason (the least of which is advancing the plot).

:argh:

5. I saw it today (Wednesday 5/19), I was surprised...
I liked it. It actually had some plot and tons of action.

6. I found it entertaining
It was pretty good. Some of my friends wanted to see Van Helsing for God's sake. I'm glad we ended up seeing Troy instead. I had no interest in going to see Van Helsing.
