1. He was Felix Unger...
I enjoyed him when he appeared on Johnny Carson.
He will be missed.

2. I will miss him.
I saw him at a bus stop near Roosevelt Hospital acting all lovey dovey with his young wife the summer before my daughter was born in 1995. They had a child themselves that year, I think.

He was one of those people who symbolized New York for me. Probably for a lot of people.

4. Very sorry to hear
Knew it was close though.
Odd Couple was a great show.

Tony also hated the Bush administration.
Here's a snip of him joking about his funeral last year:

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

"It's a national day of mourning, and the funeral is held in some vast, impressive place and dignitaries from all over the world come and every important person in the United States comes," he says. "George Bush and Richard Cheney come -- but they're not allowed in because everyone knew how much I hated them!"

He seems delighted by this notion. We wonder if anyone else is banned.

"Rumsfeld, if he dared show his face!"

And Ashcroft?

"Ashcroft wouldn't dare come because there are going to be naked women -- breast-exposed women -- saying, 'This would've been for you, Tony!' "

Thanks for the laughs Tony.

5. Yeah, he had a son with that young wife...
when he was 75, and she was under 30! He'll always be a personal hero!

8. He leaves behind a son and a daughter. I believe she was named after
his mother.

Tony Randal stopped acting for several years in order to personally care for his first wife, Florence, who was seriously ill.

After she died, he continued his career. He met, fell in love with, and married his second wife, Heather, and started a family in his mid-70's. It's wonderful that he was rewarded with another chance to love and be loved.

10. Great actor and theatre enthusiast AND the first to say "a**" on TV
At least the Odd Couple is credited with breaking down the barrier.

It had to do with a basketball team and one of the players said that he "assumed" what the coach had meant on a given play. Felix jumps up (he was there either as the coach or just as an onlooker) wrote

ASSUME on the chalkboard and then famous, "Do you know what happens when you ASSUME? (he draws two lines vertically through the word)

ASS/U/ME "You make an ASS out of U and ME"

He was doing guest spots on David Letterman until a few years ago too. Very funny.

And Dave is NOT a guy who shows a lot of affection!

11. Awww, I remember seeing him on some talk show many years ago
when the host commented that he was so educated.

He then revealed that he had never finished high school, but that he had simply remembered everything he learned in the grades that he had finished.

We'll miss you, Tony. :-(

Loved that exasperated cry every time poor Oscar did something Felix didn't approve of...

14. Bummer.
He was sharp right up til the end.

You can catch him in a cameo in Down With Love with Renee Zellweger and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Might've been Tony's last screen credit.

He was my model for growing old gracefully. He fathered a child in his mid 70's, right? Thats what I call "golden years."

18. Nooooo, this is sad.
I always thought he was so funny. I saw him a bunch of years ago, perhaps 7 or 8, in Houston. He was doing "Damn Yankees" in a theater in the round. I was on the aisle, he stood right next to me waiting for his cue and I wanted so much to reach over and touch him. I always loved him. RIP Tony, you will be missed.
