Poll question: Do You Think John Kerry Should Be Referred To As "JFK"?
Rush likes to do it. Some folks on this and other discussion forums do it... but to me it just seems silly and confusing. Those that are trying to save keystrokes could just type "JK" and the meaning would be understood (and they save an whole extra keystroke).

John Kerry isn't anything at all like John Kennedy. The moniker "JFK" is universally understood to be John Kennedy... it's confusing to see it used now for Kerry.

It's my understanding that John Kerry doesn't like it either and he goes to great lengths to NOT be referred to as "JFK". -- Perhaps that's why Rush does it. I'm not exactly sure what political value Rush finds in doing it, however.

Is he trying to be disrespectful of John Kennedy, or is he trying to make Kerry appear to be someone he's not? Who knows?

John Kerry is his own man.
Referring to him as "JFK" does him no favors.

2. No. I don't even like it when
he's referred to as "John F. Kerry." I never remember people using the F before now, so why now? Just to try to link him to memories of the other JFK?

3. I voted no,
but when he is elected, I hope he has a similar effect on this country as the original JFK had. We need a president that brings back pride in our country and the office of the president like when JFK was in power. I know its a by gone era in American politics that ironically ended when he was assassinated, but I can dream.

My best guess is that they are under 21.

6. No - confusion is the tool of facists and republicans
John Forbes Kerry is not John Fitzgerald Kennedy, and he doesn't need to be. He's his own man, and such an in-your-face attempt to tie him into another democratic icon does him a disservice...

7. The only thing I care about is that he's referred to as President Kerry.

That's all that's important for me. Because the alternative is too nightmarish for me to think about.

you brought up the fact that Limpballs does it, obviously as both a diss at Kerry AND Kennedy's memory. Reminds me of the creepy MTV deejay "Kennedy" who was an ardent Repub.

12. Is his name long enough ?
The use of the three letters as in LBJ, JFK or FDR is orginally from the newspaper headline font requirement, or so it's been said.
For instance Richard Nixon is short enough but not the others.
There is a formula for it if anyone wants to look it up.
Not sure what would be done if John Kerry's name was too long or someone was to have a long enough name to make duplication of the old JFK necessary but it is an interesting question.

15. I Did It Innocently One Time and Got SMACKED (Here)
by a fellow Dem/DUer. Since then, I've resorted to "JK" ONLY. In a way, he's invited it by being born into the contiguous social circle, then gaining the rep of being the NEXT JFK. But he's he, and that's that. He's a Dem, I'm a Dem-----------JFK was 44 years ago. Btw, how many DUers have been born WAY since 44 years ago?

16. Yep... I'm sure youth and not fully understanding how strongly
people associate the initials "JFK" with John F. Kennedy, the man, his memory, and his legacy.

Ah ha--- I think I just answered my own question about Rush. He has no respect for the man, nor his memory, nor his legacy... and he despises his brother, Senator Edward Kennedy.

much less any other human being. He just polluted the jury pool with his newspaper ad, he shows NO remorse. He's the reason there is irremediable nothingness. How can "normal" people be Dittoheads? Not looking for an answer, there isn't one, he's such a CREEP! What does Marta DO every day and every night?-------count her pre-nup?

22. Oddly Enough, None Of These People Refer To Clinton As WJC
Nor do you see them referring to Gore as AAG. --- The continued references to John Kerry as 'JFK' are not out of any need to shorten his three-syllable name.

-- Allen

PS: 'President Kerry' is good for me too. President Kerry. President John Kerry. I like typing that. President Kerry.
