Smarty eyes Triple Crown
Snip from BBC Racing:

Smarty Jones will attempt to win the second leg of the US Triple Crown in the Preakness Stakes on Saturday.

The Kentucky Derby winner is one of 11 runners in the $1m race in Maryland.

Eleven horses have won the Triple Crown but none have done so since Affirmed achieved the feat in 1978, although Funny Cide won two legs last year.

Smarty Jones, who is virtually blind in one eye after fracturing his skull in a stalls accident last year, has won all seven races of his career so far.

Smarty won the Kentucky Derby at 5-1 - as tipped on the day by yours truly! (had the week's housekeeping on it)....

Best tip for the English Derby on 5 June:

North Light (7-1 at present), owned by the Ballymacoll Stud.

3. Only the winning ones...
Expect Smarty to repeat his Kentucky Derby form by slaughtering Lion Heart, with maybe The Cliff's Edge in third place....

In the English Derby, North Light to beat Snow Ridge and American Post in 3rd place, maybe Yeats in 4th...

4. Yeah...Imperialism had a bad trip at the Derby.
He looked GREAT once he got outside. He was closing the gap quickly.

If he gets a good trip, he's the winner. But, the shorter distance allows other horses to stay out front longer, so Lion Heart will be a good bet, also. Smarty Jones, Lion Heart and Imperialism would make a nice trifecta box.

I REALLY like Imperialism for the Belmont. He looks like he has the best skills for a distance run.

7. I love the Belmont
I grew up across the street from the entrace to Belmont Park. It's really a beautiful place to see a horserace.

I agree, I think Imperialism will take both the Preakness and the Belmont.

9. I've never been.
I've never been to any of the Triple Crown tracks. My favorite track in the world is Del Mar out in San Diego.

I'm trying to figure out Eddington in all of this. He's a good horse, too, but didn't qualify for the Derby.
