Women Spend 3 Years In Bunker As Sex Slaves - Freed
<snip>

MOSCOW -- Police freed two young women who had been kept in an underground bunker as sex slaves for more than three years, during which time one of them gave birth twice and became pregnant a third time, Russian news reports said Thursday.

The women, now 21 and 17, disappeared in September 2000 after going to a discotheque in Ryazan, 125 miles southeast of Moscow, the reports said. The search for them was called off after a few months and the young women, who were identified only as Lena and Katya, were presumed dead.

They were found by police on Tuesday in a bunker constructed under a garage and their alleged captor was arrested and charged with kidnapping, newspaper and television reports said. Lena, the 21-year-old, is eight months pregnant, the reports said.

According to the newspaper Kommersant, the pair described how a man and woman had invited them to drink vodka and go for a drive. They said they fell asleep and later woke up in a dark room furnished with two beds and a table, Kommersant said.

1. Why???
Yes, let me get in a car with a man and woman I don't know and let me drink Vodka with them so I'll be so messed up I won't know what's going on. Doesn't sound smart, but that could just be me. It's no excuse for what happened, but still. Common sense people.

2. Blaming the victim aren't you?
Guess you're never done anything stupid or dangerous before? Oh I know, you've never done that, so that makes these women stupider than you.

3. There's blaming the victim, and then there's pointing out common sense.
He clearly said it wasn't an excuse for what happened.

4. Doesn't help - it still reads as blaming the victim.

5. Excuse me??
Actually, I've made some really bad mistakes, mistakes that I'm more than willing to own up to. You completely twisted my words around and I never ONCE said these women were in any way stupid. In fact, I've been in a situation similar so there's no way I would make that comment. ALL I'm saying is that you have to be aware of your surroundings and what's going on. WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES. Unfortunately, the consequences from those mistakes can sometimes be worse than others.

7. Wow, you're really good at
putting thoughts/words into other people's mouths. Too bad you don't let them think for themselves. Once again, I never said that. Apparently you think so since you're the one who made the comment.

8. Just trying to let you know how your comments come across.
You obviously think they're innocent, but they don't read that way. I've heard it all too many times before and it always comes down to this - "they (the women) should have known better than to get themselves in that situation, that'll teach em."

Think about this - make believe they were men in this situation and then see if your comments make sense. I don't think so.

9. You act like I'm not a woman!
And I can tell you without a doubt that I am. And yeah, it would be the same had they been males. It has nothing to do with gender, so stop trying to make it like you're protecting the "women". It's about a bad choice, a really sick individual, and a realllllly unfortunate thing that happened to two women who didn't deserve that fate.

And congrats on being the first person on my ignore list. I can't believe how twisted you've made my comments.
