My first wedding anniversary is coming up! Any suggestions?

Ok you married (or non married) DUers, I need your help. My first wedding anniversary is coming up and I want to do something special for my wife. My finances are limited because I'm a full time law student.

Any ideas and suggestions are welcome. :)

1. Cook for her

something elegant or just plain tasty. Light candles, but a flower in the bud vase, soft music, and lots of hugs.

2. Limited finances call for a special romantic dinner at home

chosen, purchased, prepared and served by you with a rose on her plate at the table. Follow it up with a great chick flick for the VCR or, if you can afford it, a trip to the theater to see the movie of her choice.

My first anniversary took place under similar circumstances. Trust me, she'll appreciate it for what it is and not expect the world when you only have $20 to spare.

4. Home made coupons are great too!

Make her a book of coupons for stuff like you cooking dinner when she is tired, one foot massage, a bubble bath for two--or a baby oil massage. Stuff that she can redeem all year long. I'm sure you can think of stuff she'd like to have, and it can even represent things like a picnic in the park or one "get out a social event free" card for some night when she just doesn't FEEL like going with you someplace...

She'll appreciate the fact that you are looking for things to do to please her or make her life easier.

Cook something she likes, watch the sun set together and talk. It sounds like you are really busy, so I'm guessing you don't have much time to talk. Here is your chance.

Hehe. j/k. The cooking suggestion was a good one. Maybe include a gift certificate for one of those day spas if you can afford one.

7. Everyone has their favorite low cost place

Take her to a place you both like and have fond memories of.
Read her a list of the things you did together this year that made the of you both smile and will make you both smile again for your first anniversary.
