3 weeks to Bubba Ho-Tep
Just a little film with a bent premise I've been itching to see. It suffered a limited release last year because of distributorship trouble, but will finally be widely available on DVD May 25.

It stars the mighty, mighty Bruce Campbell as Elvis Presley and Ossie Davis as JFK ("they DYED ME this color!"), two old farts in a rest home battling an ancient Egyptian soul-sucker called Bubba Ho-tep. Sound good? Sounds great to me.

Their aren't many comedic actors better than him.

Premise sounds hilarious. Here's hoping for more Army of Darkness type goodness.

2. Did you see it yet?
If not, its everything you think it will be and more. Campbell is damn near perfect in his role.

7. Uh-uh
I've had a copy of the trailer for months and get the silly giggles every time I watch it. It's as good as it promises, huh? Faaantastic!

3. I'm probably going to buy it
I haven't seen it, but I haven't read a single bad review in the two years since it's been made.

11. I saw it
The movie is a kick ass movie. The movie isn't funny in a slapstick way, it is funny in a very intelligent sort of way. The humor is situational but the horror is very real.

5. It's great.
It played in the local DFW art house 'The Angelika' for about 12 weeks. It truly kicks ass. Campbell's best work since the Army of Darkness.

9. "Is there, finally and really, anything to life but food, shit, and sex?"
A fascinating mutant of a film. A comedy, a creature feature, a sadly accurate account of the indignities of custodial care, and the most sensitive portrayal of Presley that's ever been put in a film. The Chin gives a very touching performance (which is quite noteworthy, because he's also keeping up an Elvis impersonation the entire time).

Joe R. Lansdale's original story (which is less funny and more melancholy) is also great, and can be found in the out-of-print but easily found collection Writer of the Purple Rage:

and in a new limited edition hardcover that includes the screenplay:

..for the big Trivia Contest in Stevens Point this year. Fourtunatley, our team had someone who had a friend in the film buisness who lent us a advanced copy of the full film on DVD. Needless to say we didn't need any stinkin' notes!
