Need help from mechanics and automotive types.
I am in the process of buying a used vehicle and I'm being a bit picky about it. This of course means I am not finding what I want.

Thus begins my question.

What I want is a dark color GMC Sonoma or Chevy S-10. I also want the dark "Graphite" interior and a V-6 engine. Since I can't find all that I want in one truck I am thinking about getting as close as possible then replacing the pieces that don't fit.

What is going to be most cost effective? Replaceing the 4 cylinder engine with a V-6 or replacing the interior trim?

Yes. I'm I know I'm being picky here. Sue me. :)

1. If you MUST do this...
it's far more cost-effective to replace the interior trim. The 4 and 6 cylinder engines use different mounts, different bell housings and transmissions, drive shafts of differing lengths, so switching a four for a six requires replacement of a LOT more than just the motor. (Not to mention the need for a different wiring harness, probably a different radiator...you get the idea).

2. I agree with Spider Jerusalem
Try to find a wreaked unit with your interior color to "part out." This will save you enormously over buying new parts. Go to your local dealer and price seats, carpet, headliner, visors, inner door panels - you just can't immagine how much they want for this stuff. Good Luck

3. Thanks guys.
I've pulled an engine before and was figuring that the trim was the better direction to go. It's also the one I can better live w/o should I decide to not make the changes.

I appreciate the input.
