Texas Rep. Ralph Hall switches to GOP--Good Riddence
Texas DINO Rep. Ralph Hall finally did the right thing and switched parties. This guy has voted like a Republican for all of his congressional career--so I say Good Riddence!! and hopefully the Democrats will field a strong candidate to run against him.

4. i always find it amazing....the level of political accumen
that assumes that every seat in this country can be won by what some people call "real" dems, is dumbfounding and just plain dumb.

5. it's 'unbridled optimism'
and it usually results in fred willard 'Wha'happened' impersonations

i LIKE that people are so motivated to think such happy thoughts, but i want them to use those happy thoughts constructively and moderate them with realism and pragmatism. If they cant do that, then they're just going to be the next generation of disaffected voters who think their votes dont matter.

Having the Ralph Halls of the world in the party was a good thing - because it showed that we were a big tent party. If we're not - if we're a small tent party - then we're in trouble. Bad game theory.

I remember when Phil Gramm left the democratic party to become a pub... and he was one of the nastiest pubs there was once he got over there. If he and all those boll wevil dems were still dems, we'd still have control of the congress - and even if we had to compromise with them on things, we wouldnt be shut out of the process like we are right now.

You dont like a conservative dem who represents you? fine - run a more liberal one against them. if they win - great!!! but this whole 'real dems' thing is the way to spell marginalize in my book

6. Did you see why? GOP wouldn't give his district money as a Dem
The DeLay fascist regime (aka GOP House majority) wouldn't give his district any money SOLELY because he was a Dem (check the news reports). So, he caved in to the bullies. No profile in courage here.

8. We're never going to win that seat anyway,
and Hall would have voted for Hastert as Speaker if his vote was determinative.

Therefore, I concur - good riddance!
