Fox news said the special prosecutor could be because they didn't find
anything and Ashcroft didn't want to announce that. Only fox news could come up with that spin

1. The question we should be asking
is why a 'special prosecutor' instead of an 'independent prosecutor'? They are not the same thing. This guy still reports up the chain to ashcroft.

2. I believe the independent prosecutor statute has lapsed and the nazis
in the Congress won't let that happen to bush baby. So
no IP.

Don't discount this story. Last week an 'administration source', (sorry, no link) said we let the earthmovers move over this story (not a direct quote, but close)

That quote speaks to confidence that it has been handled. IF this will end with a wimper as FOX suggests, the reason will be the 3 month delay between the CIA compaint, or the actual story for that matter, and the JD's official recognition of it. During that three months it was easy for all the players to get their stories straight.

If all the stories are straight, then there is no possible further action, short of a grand jury or a bigger fishing expedition. That would be impossible, obviously.

The FOX story is awful cute. Too cute. To declare publicly that the appointment was a PR move to bolster the seemingly inevitable end of this thing is strange. Why say such a thing and diminish the intended impact? It betrays either a certain supidity or an overwhelming hubris. I lean to the latter.

Which would mean the FOX story is right and The Party can openly admit to blatent PR management of the exoneration and the admission itself rubs their opponents faces in it and their followers like it.

5. That is quite a spin!
The only scenario in which Ashcroft would have recused himself is if Dick Cheney himself is the one that gave the order to leak the story about Joe Wilson's spook wife.

Somebody is going to jail...
