Soliciting Feedback for Basic Illinois Politics Web Page
Does anyone care to comment on the page I just put up at http://www.politix.us/us/il/index.php ?

It's meant to be sort of an introduction to Illinois politics and government, especially targeting children of, say, sixth grade on up.

I'll certainly be adding more information and polishing it, but I'd like teo get some initial feedback. Few of the links work yet, as the website hasn't been officially launched yet.

Thanks!

1. Great job!

I gave it a brief look and came away with a positive feeling. The font is a bit rough on the eyes though.

I put it in my favorites and will get back to you with more comments as I can.

On edit I'm not so sure about some of your ideas. Corporate Chickenhawks? Corporate welfare equal to outright bribes? You stretch the meanings way too far. If your serious about this site being viewed as legit you better tone it way down...

3. Hmmmmm...
Thanks for the tips. So the font is hard to see, or is it the SIZE of the font? I think it's Arial; maybe Verdana - two standards.

I thought the term "corporate chickenhawks" was kind of catchy, and I think many instances of corporate welfare ARE bribes.

But I'll wait for more feedback. This is actually a fairly complex project, and it will take some time to get it squared away.

5. I have a fairly good 19 inch monitor...
and am running it at 1280 x 1024. The font seems hard to read, especially the italics.

Although I generally agree with the jist of what you are saying I disagree that this is the tone to be taken with children.

Loved this:

"One of the best ways to fight Microsoft is by using better products and encouraging the open-source software community to be more politically involved. Below is a list of Linux User groups in Illinois."

And this:

"This site is designed for the Mozilla broswer, the safer, more ethical and patriotic alternative to Microsoft’s Internet Explorer. Download Mozilla..."

:):):)

4. Yes, I think it's a shame we activists aren't doing more to fight Microsof
when it's so EASY to fight it! If more people would simply promote things like Linux and Mozilla - in their chatboard signatures, on their websites, etc. - it would contribute to the erosion of Bill Gates' reputation and bank account.

Glad you liked it!
