Animal rights extremists -- again!
Edited on Sat Dec-27-03 04:57 PM by Pontus
"A group in Sweden calling itself the Animals' Liberation Front says it has poisoned meat in nine Stockholm supermarkets as part of a protest over meat-eating at Christmas.

The TT news agency says police are taking the threat seriously, despite no poisoned meat being found in any of the city's stores.

The agency says the claim has been made in an anonymous letter left at its offices along with a package of lamb.

TT says it has also received an anonymous telephone call claiming the action.

A similar threat was issued in November against a supermarket in the city of Uppsala to the north of Stockholm, but no poisoned meat was found on that occasion."

1. This sort of
dickheaded behaviour does nothing for their cause. Frustrating.

5. Maybe "normal diets"
are a bad idea. Maybe the cause is right even if the methods aren't. Possibly we're living a unsustainable lifestyle and fucking up our planet and these people care. Nah, probably they just enjoy causing grief for hungry human carnivores.

But I would suggest you look into the environmental impacts caused by the current forms of mass farming.

23. You're SO right....... send em to Iowa.....
All ya gotta do is step outside. The farmers tell ya, 'That's the smell of money'.
The air is so nice and thick with the constant smell of hog shit.
And that is just the tip of the evironmental iceberg.

If more people really knew what agony and torture these animals endure day after day? The cows, the pigs and the chickens. It's sick!

I may not agree with ELF's and ALF's methods but at least they get their message heard and they get noticed.

3. Or maybe meat producers

are trying to make animal rights activists look bad. It's the perfect simple way of defaming and/or framing someone or an organization without taking any risk. Happens all the time.

12. ALF
Is a subsidiary of Earth Liberation Front Intl, these ecoterrorists are the reason I stopped eating Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream (taht is until they sold it to Edys) because B&J used to give money to ELF.

15. A Prayer for Animals
Hear our humble prayer, O God,
for our friends the animals,
especially for animals who are suffering;
for any that are hunted or lost
or deserted or frightened or hungry;
for all that must be put to sleep.
We entreat for them all
Thy mercy and pity,
and for those who deal with them
we ask a heart of compassion
and gentle hands and kindly words.
Make us be true friends to animals
and so to share
the blessings of the merciful.

17. Is this a branch of the US ALF?
I'm wondering: is this a splinter group, a full-fledged subsidiary or a different group with a similar name?

They are terrorists.
God, I am SICKENED by the injustices done to animals, but to commit acts of terrorism is NOT going to help the cause at all..
I'm sorry, this stuff angers me tremendously..
