Something worse than "terrorism"...
Bush and his people have brought something to this nation that is worse than the terrorist attacks. They have brought fear, paranoia, and division. There is not a moment of peace for America. We cannot celebrate Christmas anymore, without a threat from these demons that have grabbed our incompetent leaders and turned their spines to jelly.

America has lost much in 3 years. The braggadacio and arrogance can only carry us so far because there is no substance behind such qualities. They are as fake as Santa Claus and the plastic reindeers.

Now we long for a time when we did not have to worry. A time when we could sit down at peace with our family and neighbors. But that time is fast disappearing, because we are becoming a nation divided. We are losing our soul to the political idealogues whose politics are build on sand. The foundations cannot stand on sand.

We cannot destroy those that hate us by killing them. We must find another way. To continue on our present path is to invite disaster and more hate and more killing of innocents. We must change the direction we are going.

But we cannot rest. For those that would speak for America are those that do not understand what America should stand for. They plot at every moment to destroy their enemies, both foreign and domestic. They do not see a quantitative difference between the two.

We are their enemies because we dare to challenge them and their ideas. We cannot endure their lies and distortions. We tire of their propaganda and war-mongering.

They are fighting a mirage, which in their minds, fits the image that seeks to destroy their way of life. Their ideology is their enemy and our enemy, because their ideology is not based in rational thought or realism. It is based on ideas about markets and competition and shoelaces, and foggy notions of moral superiority. Unfortunately, their ideology requires everyone to do as they say or we are doomed to failure. There is no room for a second opinion.

America should be afraid of the future. Because we have entrusted our ship to a captain that knows nothing about the sea. He sees monsters in the ocean at night. He calls all the sailors to be aware that we are not attacked while we are asleep. Their eyes grow heavy as the ship rocks back and forth on the uncertain waters.

1. WOW
Yours is the first post I have read this morning, and I doubt I will find one that is more truthful and well-written...at least for awhile. So when are you running for president? It is like Michael Moore says in Bowling for Columbine (or was it Marilyn Manson?)...FEAR and CONSUMPTION.....that is what their power is based on and thrives on! Great post!

2. What you say is very true
But we all know what happens to a house built upon sand. What will happen to our country if these madmen are allowed to have free reign? A wise Sufi sheikh has advised, "Don't worry about politics, worry about soul." Well, I do both, because I fear that the political actions of BushCo will send our country, and all our people, straight to the nether regions.

3. Mutiny!
This boat is taking on water and the officers are
selling the lifeboats they aren't using. Well,
calculate distance and flood the torpedo tubes
'cuz they're NOT going to get away with it.

5. No offense but pushing fear is worse than pushing dope.

Let us not go there. America is not a homogenous nation. What one side fears the other savors. Sounds more like the hemispheres of the human brain.
They don't believe in your boogey men any more than you believe in theirs.
Have courage and replace that fear with something else.

9. Who is pushing fear ??
"Have courage and replace that fear with something else."

People would love to do that. They are tired of the terrorist alerts.
It is not us that see the monsters in the ocean at night. We fear for our country because of people that believe in these monsters, real and unreal, but mostly unreal. But they didn't get us at Christmas...maybe they'll get us at New Year? Or the 4th of July?

8. the unwelcome wagon
Gone are the days when a stranger could move into town and be welcomed without "a background check". Small towns once very friendly to visitors now look down on them with beady eyes with their thumb on their cell phones whaiting for the stranger to "make a strange move". Families who move to a new area are shunned if they seem "different". The new kids at school are faced with taunts and jeers. They are called names they don't even understand. We as a society are expected to have our "radar" on 24/7 and become part of the "freedom police". City dwellars are expected to peer outside their windows day and night and watch for something "unusual". Obviously those "villiage idiots" who think up this crap have never lived in the average city where "something unusual" is always going on! The "petite" communities are supposed to eyeball each stranger like they are part of the leper restival. Those with itchy trigger fingers and a vivid imagination can create quite a scene when the new family moves to town. It's not a good time to be the new kid on the block! :scared:

10. they CREATED the monster they push
the bush admin criminals and their so-called 'pioneers' are the only ones who benefit from this. this entire administration, for these three miserable years, has used lies and crime to keep us in fear and turmoil.

they are far from incompetent. they are nazis who partnered with saddam and osama, reichstag-ged us, and took over afghanistan and iraq for their oil interests. it IS that simple.

11. When will the opposition party bring out FDR and his "fear" speach?
And Churchill's "island" speach.

They are long overdue.

If the democratic nominee addresses these points seriously, it would be a cakewalk to win the election.

I hope they are reading this thread.

12. I live in LA and I had a nice relaxing Christmas
even though LA was supposedly the target.

Maybe because I grew up as a military kid in Germany in the early 1970's when the Bader-Meinhof gang was running around blowing shit up, I just don't feel too bothered by this.

If they blow me up, they blow me up. A plane is more likely to simply fall out of the sky and kill me by accident than it is to be caused by "terrorists".

I'm more likely to choke on my christmas day dinner than be killed by terrorists.
