She claimed to be girl's aunt, Milwaukee County court records say

Milwaukee County prosecutors are considering criminal charges against a 34-year-old woman who police say falsely signed a parental consent form so her juvenile son's 15-year-old girlfriend could get an abortion.

The girl's mother, who learned about her daughter's abortion when she found a letter discussing it after the fact, went to police, who investigated and referred a potential charge of false swearing to prosecutors, court records show. The girl's mother could not be reached for comment despite repeated attempts made to her home and cell phone.

But the boy's mother, who is not being named to protect his and his girlfriend's identities, said Tuesday she believed she was the girl's last resort. The woman, a certified nurse's assistant, was a 16-year-old mother herself and said she wanted a different future for the girl and her son. Both are juniors at Messmer High School, and both want to go to college, she said.
