Rumsfield wants mass murder! PLEASE READ!
Edited on Wed Dec-17-03 01:23 PM by Independent429
Please read this and tell me its not true.

http://reese.king-online.com/Reese_20031217/index.php

some excerpts:

"Seymour Hersh, with his usual thoroughness, has documented Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld's latest scheme for Iraq. It is, in short, to set up death squads, trained by Israelis and using Israelis as consultants in Iraq.

The Israeli role is supposed to be hush-hush, but not only Hersh, in his New Yorker article, but also a British reporter in the Guardian have confirmed the Israeli role. That will win a lot of hearts and minds in the Arab world. About the only government they hate worse than ours is Israel's.

The idea is to hire some of the worst of the worst — members of Saddam's old secret police — to infiltrate the resistance and finger key players for the American murder squads. Thus, we climb in bed with the very people our boy president likes to moralize about — those dreaded evildoers. Only now they will be evildoers on our payroll instead of Saddam's. Only now, instead of bringing democratic values to Iraq, we will show the Iraqis we are just as good at murder as Saddam."

I'm kind of in shock here so I hope its a misunderstanding.

on edit: changed title to get more attention

11. Perhaps
Perhaps you should read the Seymore Hersh article and decide for yourself instead of getting all of this third-hand. You can find that issue of the New Yorker at the library.

6. I think Iraqis are well aware of
how good we are at murder. That money they "found" with Saddam was probably part of his C.I.A. pension plan.

8. Yes everyone knows what we did in Vietnam
except most Americans of course. They taught me in school that Vietnam was a noble victory against communism. In other countries like Britain, they teach that Vietnam was a humiliating defeat despite the murder squads, napalm, and agent orange. Guerillas really can defeat a superpower. America colonists rocked the British Empire's world back in the day.

17. I was a kid during Vietnam, and it was not a glorious victory
They used to show the coffins coming home on the news, because we still had a free press then. Everyone knew it was not a victory, even Nixon. If they are teaching in school now that it was a victory, then they are rewriting history.

21. They fed us a lot of bullshit
in school. I learned about the American concentration camps on my own. They also told us crap like Reagan bravely defeated the Soviets when actually it was Russian president Boris Yeltsen who stood on top of a tank and risked his life to defeat the commies in his own country.

My hometown of Somerset, PA is of the super-patriotic flag waving kind.

7. Yesterday on C-span, Hilary Clinton was giving a speech on
foreign policy. It was a great speech too. Anyway, someone asked her about this in the Q & A and she said she had heard this and had also heard that they were thinking of backing off from it because it's such a terrible idea.

It seems like a lot of people are noticing a pattern, though, where Rumsfeld and Cheney and the neo-cons do whatever the hell they want and continually undercut the efforts of the slightly saner people in the adminstration, so who knows? They claim to back off a lot of things, but then go right ahead and do them.

Some people think that they deliberately undercut Baker's efforts the other day, for instance.

12. You are not misunderstanding. It is indeed true.....
I heard Mr. Hersch on NPR a week or so ago discussing this. The pentagon denys the Iraelis are in Iraq. That is true said Seymour yet thay did not deny the Israelis being inside the US and other places training our soldiers for assasination. It is not the first time the US has done this either he went on to say and compared the operations to the assasination squads in VietNam! I believe then it was "operation scorpian" or something like it. The people in power back then pushing this stuff are of the same warped, bloodthirsty neocons in power today. Sickening isn't it?

23. yes Reagan supported atrocities
by Contras in Nicaragua as well as other places like Lebanon.

I really wish the Democrats had clean hands but Jimmy Carter's indifference to the Africans who begged him to stop Idi Amin is shameful. One of the greatest presidents and greatest democrats, Franklin D. Roosevelt, sent ships full of German Jewish children back to the nazis because he said "sweet little jewish children grow up to be greedy dishonest jewish adults".

Do you mean opposing political parties, peaceful groups, etc. Or do you mean the sons of bitches setting bombs off in front of police stations?

26. I think that resistance, in this case
Refers to anyone who is trying to counter, in any capacity and by whatever means necessary and available, the illegal invasion and takeover of their sovereign country.

Does that sound about right?

24. We have to win to stop Rumsfield if nothing else
"The revitalized Special Forces mission is a policy victory for Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, who has struggled for two years to get the military leadership to accept the strategy of what he calls “Manhunts”—a phrase that he has used both publicly and in internal Pentagon communications. Rumsfeld has had to change much of the Pentagon’s leadership to get his way. “Knocking off two regimes allows us to do extraordinary things,” a Pentagon adviser told me, referring to Afghanistan and Iraq."

“The only way we can win is to go unconventional. We’re going to have to play their game. Guerrilla versus guerrilla. Terrorism versus terrorism. We’ve got to scare the Iraqis into submission.”
