CNN: IOWA Moving to Dean/Kerry Showdown

Candy Crowley reported some "campaign internal polls" that show
Kerry edging out Gephart in IOWA.

Has anyone heard rumors from "internal polls" on this topic?

Does anyone see a possibility of Kerry, not Gephart, beating Dean in IOWA?

A Dean vs. Kerry two man race would provide for a real debate that could help the party.

Clark has the money to be the not-Dean when the campaign goes South. But Clark is too much a novice Democrat for me to consider him an option.

5. It must be!!
LOL

There's NO way!

Of course, as of late, it's been hard to distinguish between the Boston Globe and the Kerry campaign. They're out for blood - Dean's.

Dean's ahead in Iowa by 10 points (give or take) in almost every recent poll I've seen.

19. The Globe has been riding Kerry's ass for years.
About damn near everything. Somehow they felt it was Kerry's responsibility to do the journalism for them and say he wasn't Irish, for example.

You are not going to get millions of antiwar voters, who are mostly independent, to vote for a prowar, pro-imperialist foreign policy candidate like John Kerry.

BTW, Kerry's latest yapping about Dean and Dean not high fiving the Saddamorgasm, just finished Kerry off in my book.

Poof. Evaporated. Gone, I hope.

36. Kerry does indeed lead in union support, according to 12/8/03 Pew Poll
http://people-press.org/reports/display.php3?ReportID=198

Gephardt leads Dean among union voters in Iowa, though he has not sewn up the labor vote. A quarter of union members rank Gephardt as their first choice, while 28% favor Kerry. One-in-five union members say Dean is their preference.

People should read William Mayer instead of William Pitt. :)

16. Gep and Kerry are pals,
from what I understand. I don't think they would ever go at each other's throats. At the end of the last debate, they immediately went to each other to shake hands. Always interesting to watch who hangs out with who right after the debates, and who goes right to the audience (In this case it was Edwards, followed by Kerry and Gep. Edwards also stayed near the audience the longest.)

29. Recent Mellman poll number shows tight race
Dean 28%
Kerry 24%
Gephardt 23%
Edwards 10%
. . .

Kerry is on a roll.

From report:
"John Kerry is tied for second place in Iowa. And the fire lit by that state’s caucuses will have
huge repercussions for our campaign. While there are a variety of numbers coming out of New
Hampshire, history teaches us two things. First, the Iowa results can have a dramatic impact on
the New Hampshire vote. Second, exit poll data from New Hampshire primaries consistently
show that over 80% of voters decide for whom they are going to vote after January 1."

But it's so much fun to lower myself to the level of the dean haters.

Three purple hearts for kerry made him eligible for early discharge. Of his three injuries, he spent *2 DAYS* out of duty. His using those injuries as an excuse to leave the war is disrespectful to the people who sustained REAL injuries and lost their lives.

Vietnam, Iran-Iraq (by ending the arms dealing) and the illegal wars in Central America by exposing them.

You remember the wars in central America, don't you? The illegal wars of Reagan and Bush that Dean refused to stand against because he had "mixed feelings"...that's the judgement Deanies trust?

Kerry's men said he volunteered for every mission and risked his neck for others even when he didn't have to.

What do you base YOUR claims on? Or are you continuing the 30 year smear campaign against Kerry that started in the Nixon White House?

I guess you agree with Cheney that Kerry is a "conspiracy theory nut" too.

58. No one likes war
This is what John Kerry said about the capture of SH:

"This is a great day for U.S. forces, the Iraqi people, and the world. Capturing Saddam Hussein and ensuring that this brutal dictator will never return to power is an important step towards stabilizing Iraq for the Iraqis.

"Let’s also be clear: Our problems in Iraq have not been caused by one man and this is a moment when the administration can and must launch a major effort to gain international support and win the peace. We need to share the burden, bring in other countries, and make it clear to the world that Iraq belongs to the Iraqi people.

"Today is another opportunity to invite the world into a post-Saddam Iraq and build the coalition to win the peace that we should have built to win the war.”
