Jim McDermott: If it Happened, you can bet it was planned that way (FDR)
Edited on Tue Dec-16-03 05:09 AM by seventhson
FDR said: Nothing in Politics is an accident: If it Happened, you can bet it was planned that way.

Congressman Jim McDermott (and Dean) are under rabid fire for expressing their opinions that Bush "Knew" and, McDeremott especially, for saying that the Saddam capture NOW was more than coincidence. It looks like he was being held (or protectded) for the right release timing.

Nothing rings truer to me -- but there is a feeding frenzy attacking him now.

Here:

http://www.newsday.com/news/politics/wire/sns-ap-saddam-mcdermott,0,2235697,print.story?coll=sns-ap-politics-headlines

Whenever they attack us for saying such things as Bush Knew or that Saddam's capture was more than a coincidence at this time (it looks like he was being held captive by two spooks and a goat-- we need to pull out and wave the flag of FDR and proclaim AND SHOUT for all to hear:

"NOTHING IN POLITICS IS AN ACCIDENT. IF IT HAPPENED, YOU CAN BET IT WAS PLANNED THAT WAY" FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT

Believing that is NOT crazy-- it is sound and reasonable judgment.

You may disagree. But that does not make you right or me wrong.

We need to BACK UP Jim McDermott with calls and letters.

3. That's not the point
Just because his district (which I happen to live in) is safe, doesn't mean we can take him for granted. On the contrary, you can bet the papers will be full of vilifications of his statements, starting with the otherwise liberal Joel Connelly of the Seattle P-I, who can't resist an opportunity to impugn the "Representative for Life."

DUers all around the country should be touting McDermott's nerve and veracity, encouraging other Dems to do the same. Last year he was excoriated in the press in all corners of the U.S. for saying that Bush would deceive the country in order to take it into war in Iraq.
Gee...he was right....

12. Whoopie
Beings the polls barely moved at all. He can speak as he wishes. Americans unmoved by Saddams capture according to ABC-NBC polls. This has turned out not to be the goldmine Bush was looking for.

6. Please explain why Bush, Cheney, Rice, Powell, Rummy, etc. can
make wild speculations backed by nothing more than wishful thinking and even tell blatant whoppers, but a Dem who makes eminently reasonable and believable guesses about the SOP of the BFEE is an "embarrassment."

17. I hold my party to higher standards
and if we didn't have congressmen making wild eyed accusations without evidence we could take the high road and point out RW idiocy.

And there's nothing wild eyed about recognizing how this administration operates.

10. Oh really...?
And just tell me hiw Bush, Cheney and the rest of the Bushistas
managed to have ANY evidence and credibility?
I think McDermott is doing what patriotic dissenters should be
doing as the norm! I think people should be extremely skeptical of
what has transpired with this "Saddam capture".

McDermott isn't an "embarassment"..he should be an inspiration for
all of us.

13. He doesn't embarass THIS Democrat...
...and I resent your blanket statement. The only way we're going to beat Bush* is to expose his corruption and dirty politics.

8. And what about that repuke congressman
Who made claims 2 weeks ago to having"inside information" on the capture of SH? Why doesn't anyone tell him to fess up to what he knew, when he knew it and why didn't he spill it? Why is there a different set of rules governing what Dems say from what these lousy stinkin' hump repukes say?

I happen to applaud McDermott for having the guts to say it, the same way I did for Cynthia McKinney when she said same thing about 9/11? No guts, no glory. Why must we all be "muzzled" from speaking what we feel, think and know. Uhtil they take the freedom of speech from our cold, dead hands, anyone has the right to speak their mind.

9. the louder they sqeal, the more on-target the accusation
If they are squealing so loudly about this, it means that McDermott is definitely onto something...

Plus it fits to a tee their standard operating procedures.

22. The way I see it...
is that if the brave congressman from the great state of Washington is indeed employing right-wing tactics, the corporate media whores will dutifully (and repeatedly) report his opinions as incontrovertible proof of deception by the administration, and move on to the next saga of Michael Jackson performing live at Never Land Ranch. I've seen worst.
