Free Speech isn't just for DUers
Edited on Wed Dec-10-03 12:11 AM by khephra
Like Dean or not, like Gore or not, Gore still is a citizen of the United States and entitled to the same rights as all of us.

It's not popular speech that's protected, but more specifically unpopular speech.

You don't like the endorsement. Cool. That's your right.

But it's also the right of every citizen in this country--nay, their duty--to speak up when they think something is wrong.

Al Gore is not going to be driving you to vote.

Al Gore will not be in the voting booth with you.

Al Gore will not be pulling the lever for you.

YOU will be the one voting. All Gore is doing is exercising his rights as a citizen of this country.

Why am I reminded of O'Retched yelling at Al Franken to "Shut up!" simply because he didn't like what was being said?

If you want the right to speak your mind, then please, respect the rights of others to speak theirs.

1. Good thoughts...
...and something we should all consider as we remember that we're Democrats...not screeching FReepers.

4. I Agree
And I don't like screaming/yelling type arguments anyway.

However, I am very disappointed in Gore. I don't know why he made the endorsement in this way, before the primaries and and before this debate. It looked bad all the way round. I don't think it's catastrophic or the end of the world or anything, it just bugged me, is all!

In general I would like everyone to chill a bit, I hate it when people start freeper-izing (although I'm sure a lot of it, like Mr. Marx down there, is caused by bonafide Freeps!)

7. 'candidate wars' threads -
the adolescent, high-school-rivaly level of discourse in them is sometimes amusing but mostly terribly boring.

8. Free speech
Well, hell, Kheph -- if you feel THAT strongly about it, I'll make sure to seat you right next to Andy the Right Wing Republican at FUNDAY June 19. See you then.
John
Andy not only speaks his mind -- he goes on and on and on and on and on.
