1. Wow, Costco gave 100 percent to Dems
I will be shopping there more often.

However, do they have any labor violations?

10. I have read that Costco is much more labor friendly than Walmart
You can check the AFL-CIO website for links and info about labor violations.

2. Okay. No more fast food. Wearing Ralph Lauren, Anne Klein only.
Thank you for posting. Scary, though.

3. Oh, cool! Sonic is 100% dem!
They have good food at reasonable prices, and some of it isn't all that bad for you either.

5. Well, Home Depot just got their last cent from me ... no more!
Edited on Sun Dec-07-03 10:06 AM by Military Brat
That explains the fat photo-op. Apparently bush is a hawk and a hawker!

No more purchases from Land's End either, which is now owned by Sears. Wal-Mart, of course, is ethically and morally bankrupt and I refuse to shop there for reasons that go far beyond political affiliation.

And isn't it creepy how the restaurants (mostly fast food) are so heavily weighted in favor of Repubs? Makes you think twice about what you're putting in your mouth when you consider the ethics of those who are putting the food on your plate, like where did that food really come from, was it inspected thoroughly, and just exactly how free of contaminants is it? Blecchhh!

Edit: Don't forget your sheets, towels, blankets and fabric. Women and men who sew, dump Hancock Fabrics. http://www.opensecrets.org/industries/contrib.asp?ind=N16

I'm surprised Amway gave ANYTHING to the Dems. DeVos is a big GOP bankroller.

7. Irony
Home Depot gives tons to the GOP, while founder Arthur Blank's Atlanta Falcons gives a lot to the Dems :wtf:

I don't like the Rams, but I do like that they give a lot to the Democrats.

Boxers (Don King, Top Rrank) seem to like Dems.

And let's hear it for the NBA!!! :bounce:

11. Scamway
If you look up the DeVos family contributions and the rest of the really big name Amway people, they are 100% GOP bankrollers.

I'm guessing the 2% for Democrats were individual contributions from low-level Amway distributors. I got lured into Amway once (and quickly dropped out once I found out how right wing the politics were there), and was still making donations to liberal candidates. I'm sure there are a few other low-level Amway distributors who do likewise - but be assured, ALL of the big names in Amway are big GOOPer donors too. Do NOT buy Amway products or join Amway!

8. Interesting -- they break it down by individual and PAC
but they don't break it down by which party got more from PACs or individuals.

For instance, the Democrats and Republicans received roughly equal contributions from individuals and groups affiliated with the Gap. The pie chart looks like 1/8 of those contributions were from PACs and the rest were from individuals. Which party got the PAC money? I'm less concerned about candidates getting $250 from each of 100 people who work for a particular company, than I am about them getting corporate PAC money.

9. Whoa! This helps a *lot*
I've been researching these companies myself and putting my findings on my blog, but it's hard to get a complete breakdown of their donations.

Kudos to Open Secrets for putting these complete breakdowns up on their site.

My opinion of Burger King for example has changed, since the last numbers I had for them had their PAC giving more to Dems than Repugs, but it looks like when you add in the individual contributions and soft money, Burger King goes on the boycott list. And I had no data at all for Sonic, glad to see that Sonic is on our side. I'll be eating at Sonic from now on.

12. No more Home Depot for me.
I don't have a Home Depot near me so I have only bought office supplies via the internet from them. STAPLES will now get my business. Wish I had a Costco near me. They would get ALL of my business.
